Rawlings Asics "Captured" Vintage Japanese 11.5" Youth Baseball Glove - Imported Right hand throw, glove is worn on left hand Directly imported from Japan, very rare to find here in the states. A rare piece of baseball history from the distinct Rawlings/Asics Japan era. From the late 1970s up until around 2012, Asics held the exclusive license to manufacture and sell Rawlings gear in Japan. The "Captured" series was a premium, Japanese-market-exclusive lineup produced by Asics under the Rawlings name. These were never widely distributed in the United States, which is why they are so rare and highly sought after by collectors today. Within the Captured line, the "SECCA" stamping was used to designate a specific Limited Edition Model (限定モデル / レギュラーランクモデル). Japanese-made gloves from this era are famous among glove enthusiasts for their meticulous craftsmanship. Specialized Heart of the Hide (HOH) leather that was incredibly durable but treated to have a distinct, structured feel. Because they were built for the Japanese market, they often feature slightly tighter hand openings and a deep pocket designed for optimal ball security (hence the name Captured).
