Riddell SpeedFlex Football Helmets

The Riddell SpeedFlex is known for the flexible panel on the crown and a facemask clip that releases on impact. The Flex System builds give into the shell, facemask and clip, so force that would otherwise transfer to the head gets absorbed by the helmet. Patented Side Impact Protection adds coverage at the temple and jaw, where lateral hits do the most damage. An inflatable liner and standard jaw pads let one shell fit a range of head shapes, which is why it runs from youth small through adult XL. New, a SpeedFlex costs about $430 for youth and $555 for varsity. Used, they start around $160.

Perfect helmet for:
Players who need a helmet that fits without a break-in period, with an inflatable liner that handles in-between head sizes instead of forcing a pad swap.

👍 Pros
I'm an old guy (30 years old) old and I've liked a single piece of headgear more. Highly recommend the SpeedFlex.
Yes, it costs a bit more than generic or older helmets, but when it comes to safety, you really do get what you pay for.
The adjustable liners are great for the "In-between" sizes of some players.
👎 Cons
New chin strap systems take some getting used to, but they’re much better than the old-style snaps.
The only con is the SpeedFlex has a heavier weight.
A bit more expensive than what I am used to paying for a helmet.
The Riddell SpeedFlex has long been a top choice for football players across all positions. Its standout feature is undoubtedly its exceptional comfort, requiring minimal break-in time. The cam lock chin straps allow for easy adjustments to find the perfect fit. If you're looking for a helmet that feels great right out of the box and offers the best protection, the SpeedFlex is definitely worth considering.
