This is an original Rawlings Heart of the Hide (HOH) DCT first baseman’s glove, Made in the USA. Dating vintage Rawlings gloves can be difficult, but this example can be confidently placed in the early 1960s to early 1970s range.
The glove features the following patent numbers stamped inside:
• U.S. Patent No. 2,629,096
• U.S. Patent No. 3,051,958
• U.S. Patent No. 2,625,686
Because the latest patent listed (3,051,958) was issued in 1962, the glove could not have been produced before that year. Rawlings continued to stamp earlier patents for many years afterward, which is why production most likely falls into the mid-to-late 1960s, possibly extending into the early 1970s. Based on the patent stamp, patch style, and overall construction, this glove fits squarely within that era.
In terms of size, Rawlings did not consistently label glove sizes during this era, and vintage DCT models vary. Based on feel and comparison to other period-correct gloves, this glove measures approximately 12.5 inches. It is smaller than a modern DCT, which is typical for gloves from this time period.
Overall, the glove is in very good condition for its age, especially considering it is over 50–60 years old. The leather has held up extremely well and presents nicely for both use or display.
The only thing the glove really needs is pocket adhesive, which is completely normal and expected for a glove of this age
