The Volkl Ride The Mountain 80 Green is for the advanced to expert skier seeking a high-performance ski. This 80mm wide ski was built with metal reinforcement and Dual XTD Transmission for optimal carving down the steepest pitches on the resort. There is also tip and tail rocker for quicker overall turns and better performance in soft snow. Important if you live in a place where it snows feet per storm. If you are an intermediate skier who craves speed, the Volkl RTM 80 Green will certainly leave you satisfied and smiling at the end of the day. Composite Core:This ski features a composite core, which has a softer flex and is lighter weight than wood cores. Junior, entry level, and sometimes even women’s models have this type of core to make skiing more enjoyable, and less work. Progressive Technology:Features very slightly raised areas across the edge in the mid-body of the ski deliver sufficient stability while allowing effortless turn initiation. The soft-flexing tail facilitates drift at the end of turn especially for beginners and low intermediate skiers. Ideal Target Skier: Progressing Intermediate:This skier is pushing the limits of the intermediate badge, and getting off trail and figuring out how to get comfortable at higher speeds through variable terrain. Ideal Target Skier: East Coast Hardpack Lover:This is an excellent ski for East Coast skiers that ski aggressively on the hardpack while still getting off trail a bit. West Coast skiers: this is a carving ski that should only be brought out when the powder is gone and its time to rip the groomers. Speed: Moderate:The speed at which an intermediate skier travels, Moderate means they like to ski faster than beginners, but are never the fastest skiers on a run. Cap Construction:The topsheet of this ski drapes over the edge to form a clean and rounded finish to the side of the ski. This style of construction adds some torsional rigidity, and helps reduce topsheet chipping when the skis hit each other. Textured Surface:Ideal for repelling wear and tear on the skis surface. Textured ski surfaces (aka snakeskin topsheet) are rough surfaces to the ski that hide or repel scratches keep your skis look new long after they are not. Originally designed for rental skis for obvious reasons, this surface is now available on a wide variety of retail skis as well since everyone likes their skis to look nice. Tip Rocker:This refers to the early rising of the tip to get the ski on top of the soft snow, rather than pushing through it. When the skis are held with the bases together, it will look like the tips are bent, and spread away from eachother. Tip rocker also helps skiers pivot the skis, making tight trees remarkably easy, and gives the ski a surf-like feel.
