When choosing a new pair of skates, it is important to place a focus on fit. If you’re unsure which skate line and model fits your foot best, or if you’re looking for an accurate measurement and assessment, visit your local Pure Hockey. Bauer’s Vapor skate line features low-profile models, including the Vapor X2.9, best suited for players with low-volume foot dimensions. Bauer implements their PERFORMFLEX System into the X2.9, designed for better comfort, fit, and overall performance.
The PERFORMFLEX System includes a 3D Lasted Tech Mesh quarter package. This quarter construction offers great support and thermoformability for an optimal fit and improved skating performance. Inside the boot, Bauer combines Comfort Edge and Aero Foam padding for added support, as well as some personalized comfort in the ankle thanks to the thermoformable properties of these technologies.
The Vapor X2.9 skate includes a hydrophobic microfiber liner and Bauer’s Form-Fit+ footbed. The liner provides good support, a soft feel, and moisture-management properties to help wick sweat away and keep your foot secured in the boot. And the footbed is lined with memory foam underneath for true comfort as soon as you step into the skate. This model also includes a two-piece, 48-oz. felt tongue injected with a metatarsal guard for solid protection, comfort, and good flexibility when skating.
Like the top-of-the-line Vapor 2X Pro, the X2.9 includes the Tuuk Lightspeed EDGE holder. This holder system offers performance benefits and an easy-to-use mechanism that allows you to switch a damaged or broken blade out quickly. Simply pull the trigger on the holder to unlock the blade, them remove it with your hand (using a towel as a buffer), pliers, or the Bauer-provided tool. Insert your new blade until it clicks into place, and you’ll be back on the ice without missing a shift. And because the trigger system locks the new blade in place, energy transfer from the boot to the blade will be maximized with every stride. Attached to the Lightspeed EDGE holder is the Tuuk LS1 runner which provides good edge life and performance.
The Vapor X2.9 skate provides players with a great low-profile option, with the right fit and performance features included to make this model a terrific value.
