The DeMarini Zen USSSA is a great bat with plenty of pop, and this 31-inch, 23-ounce (-8) model is a fantastic option for training a young player making the transition from a drop 10 (-10) to a drop 8 (-8). My son has been using this bat in the cages, and even with the crack, it has not lost its pop whatsoever—this thing still absolutely rakes. The -8 is a great middle ground for helping a young player get comfortable with a little more weight while learning to control the barrel and drive the ball. Whether you're looking for a dedicated cage bat or a training bat to help your kid prepare for the next step, this DeMarini Zen is a great option. Please note: This bat does have a small crack in the barrel, which is shown in the photos. Despite the crack, my son has continued using it in the cages and it still has great pop with no noticeable drop-off in performance.
