I purchased this Rawlings Heart of the Hide first base mitt new in late 2022 and ended up using it for about 15 minutes of light catch in total. It is extremely stiff and in mint condition. The glove was released as part of Baseball Express’s 2022 Horween Limited series, which included the features below. It’s a very nice piece and the leather is noticeably higher quality than an off-the-shelf HOH. Full Horween C55 including finger liners and palm liner Split Grey Welting Hand Sewn Welting When Applicable Black Palm Indent Black Embroidery Vegas Gold Stitching Tan Lace Gold outlined Rawlings labels Wool Wrist Back Individually Numbered Minimal Factory Break-In

Perfect glove for:

High school and college infielders who will spend weeks shaping a glove before opening day.

The Rawlings Heart of the Hide is a steerhide baseball glove built for player break-in. Rawlings publishes a player break-in share for each model in the line. That share is how much shaping you do; the factory does the rest. R2G models arrive with more of that shaping already finished. Players who want a glove ready on day one should start there.
