The Build & Condition This is an absolute gem of a find for a lefty first baseman. It is a 2016 Rawlings GG Gamer series first base mitt (Model GFBMB) in Left-Hand Throw (LHT). It features an all-black colorway with the clean factory date code stamp EHBA29. This mitt is in nearly pristine, like-new condition. It was never used in a game and has essentially just been sitting safely in storage with the occasional backyard game of catch. So I can't list it as true NOS (new old stock) but it's darn close. The leather is structurally flawless, with zero hand-stall wear or scuffing. It has been lightly cleaned and conditioned just to ensure the hide is perfectly healthy, preserved, and ready to take the field. It's immediately game-ready the second you un-box it. Who This Is For & How It Plays * The Adult League / High School Starter: Because the Rawlings Gamer series is known for using high-quality pro-style leather that isn't rock-hard, this mitt gives you an incredible head start. It still holds its great factory shape and structure, but it won't require months of brutal break-in before you can confidently trust it in a game. * The Player Who Wants Serious Impact Protection: The Gamer series features reinforced palm padding that does a phenomenal job absorbing impact from high-velocity throws across the diamond, in case your 3B fires missiles at you. A lot of them do! "But does it softball??" Sure does. Rec/slowpitch players, even some competitive fastpitch players can use this mitt. It's built for baseball but the leather can absolutely break in for softball use. Why This Beats Buying a New $150+ Retail Mitt Modern equivalents in the Rawlings lineup (like the current GG Elite or R9 series first base mitts) will cost you anywhere from $130 to $160 at big-box stores after taxes. This 2016 Gamer model comes from a run where Rawlings was putting out exceptionally durable, tight-grained leather shells that hold their shape better over time than the softer, mass-produced cowhide they use on shelves today. You get a virtually brand-new, higher-quality piece of hardware for a fraction of the retail price.
