First, apologies for listing this as a Rawlings but this is a GLOVESMITH brand glove. They’re so custom, this platform doesn't list them as a brand! 2, the baseballs in the photos are for sizing only and are not part of the listing. NOW, this is a heavy-duty piece of old-school American craftsmanship. It’s a Glovesmith USA Custom G8 pattern, cut from thick black steerhide with sharp tan accents. This is a dead-ringer clone of the famous 12-inch Rawlings PRO12TC spec—the same compact, 6-finger Trapeze pattern Ozzie Smith used to lock down shortstop. It's not a massive outfield bucket like a TB24; it's a tight, versatile 12" utility build. This is a genuinely rare find and it's only becoming rarer. Glovesmith stopped custom glove manufacturing entirely, meaning these heavy-duty, domestic builds are a finite commodity. The story here-- at some point somebody ordered this glove completely custom from Glovesmith, down to the colors, stamps and laces, basically "build me this awesome Rawlings but make it mine." And luckily they didn't pony up to have their name stitched in it. To get it ready for the field, I freshly relaced the fingers and the Trapeze web with black and tan leather laces, a mix of 3/16" and 1/4", both for strength and for looks. I left the original factory palm laces alone because they are still rock-solid and holding their tension. The glove has been thoroughly washed, cleaned, and conditioned, so the leather is healthy, smooth, and ready to go. The original black "Made in USA" cloth wrist label is perfectly clean. Down in the palm, the gold-pressed stamps have faded with use, but you can still see the deep physical impressions up close—including the "Custom Made in USA" center palm stamp. They are hard to photograph though, you have to kind of rotate the glove in the light to get it all. Who This Is For & How It Plays Competitive League Utility Guy (HS/college/adult): At a true 12", this is a solid crossover tool. It gives you enough length and pocket depth to track down fly balls in the outfield, but it’s compact and responsive enough to play the 5 or 6. A 3B can use it all day. Some SS like the 11.5's but I see a lot of the taller infielders prefer the 12's. It feels longer than a 12 to me but I got the measuring tape out and that doesn't lie. Modern retail gloves under $200 are packed with cheap synthetic components that break down and collapse. This USA-made Glovesmith is pure, thick leather, meaning real hand protection and a firm backbone that won't give out on line drives. Glovesmiths are rare and getting rarer. This one is game-ready as soon as it's delivered.
