The Atomic Cloud Eleven, which returns unchanged for 2017, is the top model in Atomic's Cloud series of high-performance groomed snow carvers. It's aimed at expert women who love to carve at high speeds on-piste, with an edgy, powerful full-sidewall construction. With its 71-mm waist (it's Atomic's narrowest women's ski), it's the quickest Cloud from edge to edge and has the surest edge grip on hard snow and Eastern ice. It's sold with a sturdy 10-DIN Atomic XT binding The Cloud series features three models of narrow-waisted groomed-snow carving skis with deep, turny sidecuts and grippy traditional camber, but they cover a broad range of target abilities (the Eleven for Experts, the Nine for advanced/intermediates, the Seven for novices) and prices ($850, $725, $475 MSRP; $700, $600, $400 "street price," respectively). All are designed and sold as systems (ie. with bindings). All have just a touch of tip rocker to loosen up turn entries and/or allow a little drift. (The top-of-the-line Eleven has just a slight amount; the other two a bit more.) Sidecuts are tight and slalomesque, ranging from 11 meters to 13 meters. Atomic, founded in 1955, is based in Altenmarkt im Pongau, Austria (near Salzburg), where the majority of its skis are made. Along with sister brands Salomon and ArcTeryx, it is a division of Amer Sports of Finland, which acquired it in 1994. Its U.S. headquarters are in Ogden, Utah. -J.C.
