The 2019 Volkl Racetiger SL Jr skis are a great junior race ski with early rise in the tips for quicker turn initiation, full sidewalls and a titanium sheet. They come with a pre-mounted Marker Junior Race Plate. Volkl continues their great tradition of strong race skis that provide agile turning and superior edge hold, along with a good progression of sizes for growing athletes. This year's Volkl Racetiger SL Jr skis are unchanged, (as far as construction) from last years. The only change is in cosmetics in the top sheet. 145cm: 113-65-95 (10.7m radius) Volkl Junior race skis come from the manufacturer's factory race room set at a 1 degree base bevel, and a 2 degree side angle. Peak Performance recommends for Junior SL skis a 1 degree or .7/.5 degree (for more aggressive and skillful racers) base bevel, 3 degree side angle, sidewalls pulled from the edge, and race wax applied. Premium prep does not include base edge modification. The 2019 Volkl JR SL ski requires the use of Marker bindings. The Marker XCell series has taken binding performance to a whole new level. The Marker XCell 12 is the preeminent junior race binding for this ski. For JR boot sole dimensions, size 21 and down, the Marker Race Jr 8 bindings work for skiers weighing less than 75 lbs. Marker also offers a lighter weight version of the race binding called the Race 10 TCX which can be appropriate for light weight U12 and U10 athletes with an adult boot sole lug.
