The HP45x (same as XP) for extra protection houses an additional hard pad on the side of the thigh and a longer tail bone pad at the expense of a minuscule amount of weight. While wearing I did not notice the weight difference and found them to be incredibly comfortable. They have the optional zip to extend by an inch and a zipper on the inside of the leg for players who like to put their skates on before their pants or for players that like extra room.
