Great pads just a bit short for me. Used 4 times, my loss is your gain. A little bit about the Velocity V7 XR Pro Leg Pad. While keeping the same great feel that Vaughn is known for, they were able to incorporate reinforcements throughout the line to increase performance. The XR pad is based off of the V6 1100 pad and has followed the stiffer internal flex points to follow the feel of its predecessors. Aesthetically, the only change the pad has undergone is now a new graphic which now splits the large zone in half giving the goalie more creative feeling in their design of the pads. Internally, the pad now features more sheets and pieces of HD foam and Carbon fiber reinforcements further giving structural integrity. Compared to the XF Pro pad, the V7 XR Pro is a more rigid cored pad, which will play stiffer on the legs and create further rebounds. This stiffer pad is accentuated with harder foams in the sliding edge, stiffer outer rolls, and a harder scoop angle with little flex to keep the pad from settling. Also, there are almost all HD foams used in this pad to keep the harder profile. The strapping system has two leather straps at the top which connect next to the knee. The goalie has the freedom to move these buckles as they choose to find their proper feel. The Velcro knee lock can be positioned directly next to the knee, or angled down to create the wide open feeling some goalies are now looking for in their pads. The calf has two leather straps positioned above and below the calf to secure the leg to the pad. On top of that, the V7 XR Pro pad has a single elastic strap between the two calf straps to give more comfort and adjustments. With the thinner outside profile, angled strapping and harder core the V7 XR Pro pad is designed for the butterfly goalie who wants their pads to drop hard to the ice and seal well. I had BAHR (bayareahockeyrepair) refurbish this set and it feels better than ever, new palm.
