Whether you plan to use them in beer league, or for roller hockey, or even ball hockey, they will serve you well. I have done some modifications (mainly to modernize them). Like removing the sliding toe bridge, calf strap, thigh strap, and thigh boards. The only leather straps I kept were the upper-calf / behind-the-knee strap and the boot strap. The behind the knee strap on the right pad ripped in half (see picture). I will include a piece of leather which you can stitch on. Or you can just get a cobbler to sew a new one on. As for the toe ties, just have a waxed skate lace installed, although that can easily be changed to whatever you prefer. I have pre-paid for Worry Free Delivery Insurance.
