My son used these for two seasons of high school hockey and grew out of them. They're still in great shape with a number of years left in them. Little to no smell, disinfected regularly. Straps and velcro still in great shape. Slide plates do show normal wear but are intact, included, and still fully functional. Pads are currently configured to be worn open-knee. The only pieces missing are the ones required to wear them closed-knee (strapped across the back of the knee) but those can be found very easily and cheaply, price reflects this. No damage at all and only cosmetic wear/markings from normal use. There's a number of puck marks, but if that's an issue they can be removed with an arm and hammer magic eraser and some water.

The G6 pads have many customization options, and the included toe ties work great. The slide plates on the pads also help with crease movements, which are almost too much for some. The shape and angle of the leg pads above the knees are very straight, which can leave your five-hole open for players (like myself) with limited hip mobility, but the internal knee blocks do tend to stop most pucks that find their way through.
