It has not been used more than a dozen times and has never fought a fish. I like the rod but since my uncle sold his boat I do more surf casting so I needed a longer pole. This pole is great for catching stripers or blue fish and even bait fish, as I have caught fish with the same pole just not this one. I had a Penn Spinfisher VI 5500 reel on it and it went great together. This pole is fine for fishing from surf if you want to but you’ll probably get better use on a boat jigging the bottom. My uncle hooked up to a bluefin tuna using one of these rods and it took 15 minutes before he lost it. It’s a very strong pole!
