Louisville Slugger steerhide youth baseball glove | 2641 Eric Davis Sig Model | (with 5¢ card!)

HOWEVER, the baseball card in this listing IS included. The Build & The Fix This is a 90's vintage Louisville Slugger model 2641, the classic Eric Davis signature model. It's built out of heavy old-school steerhide with a great I-web design. Tough, great pocket, perfect for up and coming players. Condition-wise, this thing is basically new without tags-- never used on the field and pristine. Clean logos, stamps and patches. But if you know these vintage Sluggers, they have one little flaw: the factory lining breaks down over time and flakes off. Not to worry! I personally took the time to fix that. Cleaning & Restoration Notes: I used microfibers and pipe cleaners to get all the way up into the finger stalls and cleaned out all that aging liner. The inside hand stall is now totally smooth, clean, and won't leave a mess on your hand. Shell and leather lining was cleaned and conditioned with Lexol 1 & 2. Wrist lining fur was cleaned with a toothbrush. The lace on the wrist enclosure was also replaced. How It Plays (Played catch with it) I actually took this out to play some catch, and the way it plays completely surprised me. * The Pocket: It has a surprisingly deep pocket with a nice, natural tack to the leather. If you look at the side-profile photos, you can see what I mean—the pocket has this slight, perfect cradle to it, almost like a lacrosse stick. * The Feel: The I-web gives you just the right amount of flex when catching. It doesn't need any break-in to be usable, but the steerhide definitely still retains a bit of that awesome factory feel-- it even gives you that classic new-glove "squeak" when you squeeze it. It’s just one of those gloves that feels right the second you put it on. Because of the size, I would recommend this is a youth glove for anyone from around 8 to 13. To me, this is the perfect "coach's bag" glove, because you can throw it in your equipment bag for the kid who's always forgetful, and they'll not only get a really nice glove for the game, but it can also hold up like that for years. Bonus Card Included Just for fun, I'm throwing in a 1990 Donruss Eric Davis baseball card from my personal collection for free (the year Davis and the Reds won the World Series). Thought it would be a cool piece of nostalgia to ship out with the glove. If you're buying this as a present for your young player, maybe they'll get a kick out of it, because you don't hear about Eric Davis much these days. Look at the back of the card though, he was almost like the first coming of Ronald Acuña Jr. 27 HR and 80 SB in 1986? Crazy. The card might be worth a nickel or so, but it's more about the connection to history.
