The Build & The Honest Truth This is a vintage, Left-Hand Throw (LHT) Wilson A1000 from the classic Made in USA era. The thumb date code reads ER, dating this beast exactly to May 1993. Back in the early 90s, Wilson used the exact same heavy-duty steerhide for the A1000 shells as they did for their top-tier A2000s, but they cut corners on some of the smaller details. That brings us to the main flaw on this glove: the factory wrist piping leather was a cheaper, harder cut, and it has cracked in a number of places. See photos for details. I did everything I could to revive it-- multiple rounds of conditioner, working it by hand for weeks-- but it’s still rough. If you play with bare hands, you're going to feel it. ** However, if you wear a batting glove underneath your fielding glove like a lot of players do, you’ll never even notice it.** Aside from that piping issue, the main leather shell, palms, and laces are structurally solid. The catching leather is in incredible shape still. How It Plays / Who it's for * Plays Way Bigger Than 12": On the tape measure it hits 12 inches, but because of the massive single-post web design, it feels like it plays like a 13" glove. Highly recommend for rec softballers. * Here’s you: you're lefty, you would love a made in USA glove for your July 4 softball game this year, and you can appreciate a vintage build despite a few cosmetic flaws.
