13-inch Nike Pro Gold Ken Griffey Jr. baseball glove, model JR24. It’s hard to say definitively whether this glove is a prototype, sample, or pro issue, as there’s no official documentation, but I’ve spoken with multiple people who deal specifically with pro-issue gloves, and they all believe it falls into one of those three categories. I’m listing this glove as pre-owned due to its age and the fact that I can’t confirm whether it was ever used. That said, the glove is in excellent, near-new condition. I originally got it from someone in Seattle, which could potentially link it back to Ken Griffey Jr.’s playing days there. I know it is a Pro Gold because Nike was issuing Pro Gold pro issues during this time period. I’ve personally seen Pro Gold pro-issue gloves from that era, including a Jorge Posada example, as well as college-issued gloves with the same exact strap and construction as this one. I’ve also seen one other Ken Griffey Jr. example similar to this, and that glove was signed by him. You can tell this was a higher-end Nike glove from that time based on the materials and build quality, including the fur lining inside and a full leather hand stall. It’s very reminiscent of Nike gloves from the early to mid-2000s. I’ve owned hundreds of baseball gloves over the years, and this one clearly stands out in terms of quality. The model number is JR24, and while I can’t be exact on the year, it’s most likely early to mid-2000s. Regardless, it’s absolutely a collector’s piece. I’ve kept it stored in a case ever since I’ve owned it. Condition is excellent overall, stored properly, and it remains a standout piece for any glove collector, especially Ken Griffey Jr. or Mariners collectors. Given that Ken Griffey Jr. was a Nike athlete, it’s possible this glove was part of Nike’s effort during that era, but that’s simply speculation. At checkout, you can choose UPS Ground or USPS Priority, whichever you prefer. Orders placed before 4:30 PM EST will ship same day. Signature confirmation will be applied to this order!
