Looks like the rubber portion of the throat piece is suffering from DRY-ROT, which is a common problem. It is still usable and you can continue to restring the racquet after your stringer removes the rubber portion. NEW OLD STOCK:  These items are from a retail store stock, may have been handled by customers and may show signs of storage.
