Our Take On The 2016 Liberty Helix: One of the best one-ski-quivers for Colorado's big mountains, the Liberty Helix is a perrenial favorite. A 105mm waist width combined with a generous 135mm-wide shovel up front, lend the Helix plenty of float in the soft stuff, while a lively wood core made of bamboo and poplar reinforced with carbon delivers stability and energy on firmer surfaces. Liberty's "Stealth Rocker" (which is a long, subtle tip rocker with camber underfoot and a flatter tail) helps with quick turn initiation and makes the tips even harder to sink in powder. Smooth on groomers, playful in trees, and surfy on deep days, the Helix is hard to beat as an everyday, all-mountain Western ski.
