INFO FROM POWDER7: Every Black Crows ski has an odd little phrase, usually in French, stamped on the sidewall. For the all-new Solis, that phrase is "Elle est bien raide," which translates to, I believe, "She's a stiff one." And that's no joke: the Solis shares some characteristics with the touring-focused Freebird skis from Black Crows, but it's stiffer, straighter, and burlier. That's because it's purpose-built for steep, aggressive lines--whether they're inbounds or deep in the backcountry. A light poplar wood core is reinforced with beech wood and carbon for a damp, lively ride, while a Titanal plate underfoot adds a bit of extra power and grip. A long 25m radius provides stability when straightlining, but subtle rocker at tip and tail makes for surprisingly easy, smearable turns. The Solis is not for everybody. But for skiers seeking out big, steep lines, it's the perfect companion. - Core: Poplar Wood with Beech Reinforcement - Titanal Plate Underfoot - Reinforced 2.5mm Edges - Progressive Tip Rocker / Slight Tail Rocker - Long Radius - Weight: 3650g per pair (173cm version so probably a tad higher) The skis do have a bit of rust on the edges from transport but does not affect the performance of the ski.
