CCM uses its SpeedBlade 4.0 holder with SpeedRib technology in the Tacks 9080 skate. The holder’s unique, geometrical design harnesses the power of triangles to reduce torsional stiffness and increase stride-power transfers. The 9080 model also includes removable SpeedBlade stainless steel runners for durable bite. The holder boasts one of the most aggressive turning radiuses in hockey and connects to the Reinforced Pro TPU outsole. The outsole’s concave design adds additional rigidity to the skate, and the reinforced TPU provides composite-level stiffness for maximum energy transfers. The vent allows moisture to escape the boot for a dry in-game feel and a quicker post-game dry time.
The Tacks 9080 quarter package is made with RocketFrame Composite, a pro-level, extremely lightweight material that’s also thermoformable. The inner stiffness of the SpeedCore II, combined with the new lasting, or molding, process, creates an improved anatomical fit even before baking the skate for the final and ultimate custom fit. Because the boot is so stiff, CCM includes Smooth Contour collar pads to help reduce aggravating high-ankle abrasions—a common problem in stiff, high-end boots. The skate gets extra durability in the toe, eyelet facing, and a lot of double stitching in the tongue and the traditionally stiff tendon guard.
The tongue features an extremely thick, 10mm felt (the only Tacks skate with this specification), with dual-density, center-injected foams and an embossed lace-bite guard. Taken together, these attributes in the tongue offer premium, pro-level comfort, protection, and fit—and the embossing will help keep the laces in place for a consistently accurate wrap.
The Tacks 9080 includes CCM’s pro-level Total-Dri liner. The dual-zone textures not only provide comfort but also help lock in the foot for a stable, secure fit. The Total-Dri liner wicks away unvented moisture, and the heel pockets feature padding for additional comfort and security.
