This Warrior Ritual G2 catching glove is a great buy for a starting "full right" goalie (the goalie holds his stick in his left hand and catches with his right: most goalies are NOT full righties!). This glove has had only one owner, and my son wore it with pride for several seasons of intense hockey so it definitely has signs of wear, including a tear in the seam along the bottom side of the glove. (See the photos for more details). That said, it is solidly constructed and designed and a high end catching mitt for a young goalie getting started. The glove has a one-piece cuff and thumb design, which allows for a solid seal against the body and more predictable rebound control. The thumb tapers gradually into a steeper angle as it gets closer to the pocket, a great design feature that funnels pucks into an open, deep single-T pocket. There is no lacing in the face and perimeter of the glove, which helps the glove easily close and ensures consistant closure every time. The backhand protection is made of dome shaped HD foams, which keeps the padding away from the fingers and thumb. As a result, direct impacts to these areas of the glove (typically a player slashing at the puck) shouldn't ever touch the fingers directly, insuring unparalelled protection. The backhand of the glove is similarly thoughtfully structured, here for protection and to allow greater mobility for when the goalie plays the puck. Bottom line, why pay $80-100 or more for a new glove your child will probably only wear for one season? This glove was a top of the line at the time of its purchase and a great buy. While it has seen a fair number of pucks, for the price you're getting top value. An awesome brand and a sweet glove that looks forward to returning to the ice with a new owner who can use it to once again thrill teammates, parents, and grandparents, while depressing the hearts and spirits of opponents!
