While keeping the same great feel that Vaughn is known for, they were able to incorporate reinforcements throughout the line to increase performance. The XR Pro blocker is based off of the V6 1100 blocker and still has incorporated internals to follow the feel of its predecessors. Aesthetically, the binding has been removed from the blocker and has a new graphic which now splits the large zone in half giving the goalie more creative feeling in their design of the blocker. Internally, the blocker now features more sheets and pieces of HD foam further giving structural integrity. The board of the XR features a bindingless look to create a cleaner and visually larger blocking surface. Inside, the HD board has a lighter feel on the hand. Accompanied with a contoured blocker board, the weight is distributed evenly across the back of the hand to further assist in faster movements. Hand placement on the XR features an adjustable wrist cuff which allows the goalie to adjust the tension of the board on their hand for a true dialed in feel and rebound control. Also, it gives a goalies wrist more articulation in save selections and a better opening for chest protector arms. Coming off of the inside of the board, the thumb sidewall is extra reinforced with carbon fiber enhancements to protect against shots that might sneak between the goalies hand and body and width a thumb ridge to help keep the area between the body and blocker slammed shut. Further protecting the hand, the XR Pro features full double wrap around finger protection to seal off any gaps. The palm on the XR is Vaughn's new VX suede material which helps grip the stick and also keep vibrations to a minimum. Compared to the Velocity XR Pro blocker, the XR Pro Carbon will feature domestic manufacturing and materials that are ultimately more resistant to wear.
