Exceptional vintage MacGregor VIP Limited set offered as a complete group. This is a substantial vintage MacGregor set consisting of three VIP Limited persimmon woods — 1, 3 and 4 — together with the 2 through 10 irons and Sand Iron. The irons are classic MacGregor VIP Limited forged blades with the flat-sole configuration, and retain their original Tourney Taper steel shafts. The 2–9 irons carry matching OS6323R markings. The 10 iron is marked OS6354R, while the Sand Iron does not have a numbered ferrule. The 2–9 shafts carry the Tourney Taper Medium 2 shaft bands. The wedges are marked Tourney Taper. The three persimmon woods are matching VIP Limited by MacGregor models. They retain their distinctive original-style soleplate decoration and classic MacGregor persimmon construction. The woods were refinished approximately 40 years ago and have been stored carefully since. Condition The clubs are in very good condition for their age, with normal evidence of use. The irons show surface wear, small marks and areas of oxidation/patina consistent with vintage play. The shafts and original ferrules have been retained. The persimmon woods show playing marks and wear, particularly on the soleplates, but remain very attractive examples of classic MacGregor woods. The previous refinish is approximately 40 years old. Please examine all photographs carefully; the photographs are an important part of the description. History These clubs belonged to my father and have remained together for many decades. I'm now downsizing and would like them to go to a collector or classic-golf enthusiast who will appreciate the set and its history. I have retained the clubs together rather than breaking up the iron and wood sets because I believe they are considerably more interesting as a group. The exact production date of this particular VIP Limited configuration is being researched, so I have deliberately not assigned a specific year without supporting documentation. A very nice opportunity to acquire a substantial, unusually complete group of classic MacGregor VIP Limited clubs — including both the persimmon woods and the matching run of forged irons.
