The RiverRats were a professional indoor football team that competed in the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). They were established in 2007 as the Pittsburgh RiverRats and played their home games at the Rostraver Ice Garden in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. In 2008, the team relocated to Erie, Pennsylvania, becoming the Erie RiverRats and played at the Louis J. Tullio Arena. The franchise continued under the RiverRats name through the 2009 season before undergoing rebranding and eventually becoming the Erie Explosion in 2011.
