Why do people like PK Subban? OFF THE ICE: PK is a great guy. His charity work, comedy, and interactions with fans are spot on. However, ONE THE ICE: "PK seems to be a completely different person". This sentiment is voiced by many hockey writers since PK's Rookie year and has intensified since.
My answer to why people like PK Subban is simple: BECAUSE BLACK LIVES MATTER. What I mean by that, is, the movement of a generation, which is only in its infancy stages, has shed a BRIGHT LIGHT on an issue that has often been overlooked and swept under the rug. ALL of the things that PK Subban does on the ice and is constantly called-out for in one way or the other by players, fans, and writers... are ALL things that many other players in the NHL do as often and sometimes more often. Why aren't they in the media eye, constantly being confronted? No. 1: yup, you guessed it; and No. 2: PK puts himself out there via his efforts to help humanity.
