For sale are what many might consider the last high quality shin pad: the Bauer Vapor 1X. Bauer seriously upgraded the 1X hockey shin line to take a beating. Specifically, they used Curv composite for the shell compared to cheap molded plastic that most other shins are made of. The Curv keeps the pads feather light and extremely protective. The knee cap is an injected molded piece and features ample foam inserts before tapering down into the composite lower portion of the shin guard. The calf wrap features Aerolite foam that also makes its way up into the thigh protector. The straps are thick, stretchy, and where they're located really lock the pad into place so you don't have to use as much tape. The rear calf pad provides full protection. The upper knee guard has velcro so you can adjust it however you see fit. The liner features 37.5 fabric to reduce moisture and stink. The liner is also removable. Lastly, at the bottom of the shin, there is the Flex Free Cap which is a second piece of material allowing you full front flexion so you can maximize your stride while keeping your lower shin fully protected. Honestly, I don't get why more pads aren't built like this. These pads have superficial scuffs/scratches to the printed designs on the front of the shells as seen in the photos. There are no cracks on the knees or lower shin areas. No frayed or loose stitching either. The lowest part of the inside of the shin does have some wear on the mesh covering the foam, but this doesn't affect how they perform and wouldn't make any impact at all if you flop your tongues. These have been my go-to pads since they were released. I have a few pair that I alternate between for ice and roller. Trying to slim down how much extra equipment I have so this pair is on the chopping block. Zero issues with them so they'll serve someone real well for a long time to come.
