The dual side locks release for a personalized front-to-back fit. The cage also boasts two youth-specific adjustments that change how it fits to the helmet. This is useful, of course, because as kids grow, so do their faces. The 3DS youth combo adapts to that growth. Simply slide the center top lock to adjust the cage height, and further customize the fit with the J-clip adjustments on either side of the helmet. The helmet strap also employs a youth-specific adjustment feature. Instead of the traditional snaps, the straps adjust with a velcro system on either side, for a snug-fitting chin cup. D3O foam is one of the most protective materials CCM uses in any of its protection equipment—including the adult 3DS helmet. D3O foam is rate sensitive, meaning its stiffness increases with the intensity of an impact.
