Bauer Vapor X2.7 Junior Goalie Leg Pads The Bauer X2.7 junior goalie pad is considered the hybrid style pad in the Bauer line vs. the Supreme line which is their blocking/butterfly style pad. The Vapor pad is softer and has more pre-mold curve compared to the Supreme goalie pads. The Vapor X2.7 goalie pads have enough flex to be worn by a hybrid goalie pad but enough strength and rigidity to perform the butterfly and butterfly slides fast and easily. For a younger goalie, we feel the ability too move and have flexibility in a goalie leg pad is the most important aspect a parent should be looking for and the Vapor X2.7 provides these features. The X2.7 junior goalie pad is extremely light weight with a thin profile. The thin profile also helps with mobility in younger goalies. Another feature that helps with mobility is the 100 degree boot. The 100 degree boot has a soft feel the gives you more flexibility on top of the leg to allow for greater movement. Other great features of the Vapor X2.7 junior goalie pads is the easy strapping system. With elastic straps that attach with velcro, goalies of any age can dress and undress in the matter of seconds – which is also great for parents. The Vapor X2.7 also comes with an addition strapping kit so each goalie can customize the strapping system to their particular needs. Also standard on the X2.7 junior goalie pads is a bungee cord toe tie system. This bungee system also uses a a velcro attachment. The reason for the bungee system is the ability for the tip of the pad to stretch away from the goalies toe when the goalie goes into the butterfly technique. Not only does this aid in recovery techniques but it also takes pressure off the goalies ankles, knees and hips by having a gradual stretch compared to a sudden jolt that a skate lace toe tie system can have when going into the butterfly technique.
