For protection Bauer uses MD foam with PE inserts in the fingers and backhand. This will provide impact resistance against common hockey occurrences like slashes or blocked shots. The Bauer X glove also includes a TAKTILE palm to make it easier for new-to-hockey players to grip their stick. The two-piece flex thumb will make it easier for movement but also prevent hyperextension.
