Design Inspirations TaylorMade’s first ever metal wood was called the Pittsburgh Persimmon, offering a nod to the Steel City and host of this year’s tournament. Much of the Heritage Staff Bag’s inspiration was derived from this iconic club, and is reflected in a steel-grey base color, vintage TaylorMade logos, direct references to the club, and TaylorMade’s founding year of 1979. Paying Respect Where It’s Due While the Heritage Staff Bag stands out from afar, there are some subtler details that are not to be overlooked. ‘Pittsburgh Persimmon’ is scripted into the topside valuables pocket and the carry strap where it reminds us of TaylorMade’s first metal wood. ‘Original One’, another moniker for the first metal wood, is bordered by the year 1979 marking TaylorMade’s founding year on the lower of the two backside valuables pockets.
