Patented Side Impact Protection adds coverage at the temple and jaw, where lateral hits do the most damage. An inflatable liner and standard jaw pads let one shell fit a range of head shapes, which is why it runs from youth small through adult XL. New, a SpeedFlex costs about $430 for youth and $555 for varsity. Used, they start around $160.
