The rubber mouthpiece offers a warmer and softer option to stainless steel.Because it is a tom thumb the cheek is shorter, 4" in length, and this is a single-jointed bit. Pelhams require a curb chain and curb rein to work properly. Curb chain will be activated by use of the curb rein providing you with extra control.The cheeks are shorter than on a traditional pelham making this a better bit for an inexperienced rider as there is less curb action available.
