This home made hitters mat is a perfect training mat for young hitters to learn foot placement as well as take batting practice without having holes made in your lawn. It comes with an authentic Rawlings home plate that I glued to mat. Help your youth take their batting to the next level with this synthetic turf hitters mat! The boxes are about 7 feet by 3 feet, the entire mat is 93 inches wide and 82 inches long. I used it about 7 or 8 times last year coaching my 9 year old daughters coach pitch softball team and we used the mat for showing foot placement as well as using chalk spray paint to show where you want your players feet to be before they swing and after. The best part of this mat was never having to cancel a practice If the clay was muddy we went out into the grass and we had a home plate to atleast take bp from. I even used it to help my pitchers learn foot placement using one box or the other or having two girls at the same time pitch side by side with me or one of the girls that had learned her foot placement already. There are a lot of different ways to use this mat. If you’re going to keep it in one spot I recommend using some fine playground sand to weigh it down! I can add some spikes to put through and nail down. I also added 10 spikes to put mat in ground before filling with sand to weigh it down. Use straight playground sand and I’ll include some rubber pellets for traction to lay on top of mat
