Description

This is a rare red Jofa #20 old logo Kachina jersey that was worn by winger Fredrik Sjostrom for the Phoenix Coyotes in the inaugural 4-team NHL rookie tournament in 2003 that was held in El Segundo, California. The toruney also included rookie teams from the LA Kings, San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks. The Coyotes had yet to debut their new colors and howling Coyote head jersey logo and colors and dressed their rookie squad in leftover red home and white road practice jerseys and added nameplates. Sjostrom served as alternate captain so the "A" is sewn on his jersey. (Jeff Taffe was the team captain) Everything is sewn on this size 56 jersey that has the silver Center Ice patch and shows good overall use with some wear on the front tail from the four-game tourney that the Coyotes won. Sjostrom was a 1st-round draft pick of Phoenix in 2001 at #11 overall and played for the Coyotes from 2003-07 before being traded to the New York Rangers. He also played for the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs before finishing his pro hockey career in his native Sweden in 2013. This jersey was obtained in a near-complete set of the 2003 Coyotes rookie tourney jerseys directly from the Coyotes in 2004.
