Best Marucci Gloves of 2023

Marucci was founded in 2015 by two former big leaguers cutting bats in a backyard shed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Given these humble beginnings, Marucci’s rise up the ranks of best baseball equipment companies in the last 10 years is astounding. What’s even more impressive is they achieved these heights based on reputation alone, with Marucci allocating almost no money towards marketing or player endorsement deals in their first few years. And while Marucci might be best known for their bats, their roster of gloves is (hot take incoming) just as - if not more - impressive. Marucci’s glove best-selling glove lines encompass the two qualities—consistency and craftsmanship—which made the company what it is today.

Our Expert’s Take:

To me, what’s most impressive about Marucci’s gloves is how high-quality they are, while still maintaining affordability. Their Marucci Cypress infield glove line is a prime example of that. It’s one of Marucci’s most popular glove series, and the premium Japanese leather it’s made from looks and feels different than most other gloves you’ll find. In addition, many Cypress customers rave about this glove’s durability and the easiness with which it breaks in. And what I love most about the Cypress series infield gloves are the variety that Marucci offers. They come in blue, grey, pink, various shades of brown, and include many different web options, too. Because of this, there really seems to be a Cypress series glove for everyone. Give them a chance and you might find your perfect match.

I used a camel tan, modified trapeze webbed Marucci pitcher’s glove throughout high school. And while I think this was before Marucci’s Ascension series launched, that glove was basically the exact same as this one. What I remember most about that glove is it being game ready after about a week of playing catch—which is common for Marucci gloves. In general, the Marucci Ascension is great for youth players who are just transitioning into high school baseball because it’s one of the smaller and lighter adult gloves you’ll find. If you’re looking for a camel tan, trapeze webbed pitcher’s glove but don’t want to break the bank, this Marucci Ascension glove is a great option.

Marucci Oxbow Outfield Glove

The Marucci Oxbox Series outfield glove is constructed from full-grain, cowhide leather of the highest quality that’s both lightweight and easy to break in. In addition, this glove boasts supple leather palm lining with added cushioning, a smooth microfiber wrist lining with high-density memory foam, and professional-grade rawhide laces for durability. The Marucci Oxbow outfield glove is 12.5 inches long, comes with an H-web, and is currently retailing for $149.99, with a version currently available for $149.95 on SidelineSwap.

Our Expert’s Take:

This Marucci Oxbow outfield glove offering (named for Louisiana’s iconic oxbow rivers) has become a common preference for many outfielders—especially teenagers, as this glove’s M Type fit system makes it ideal for teens who are looking to transition away from youth gloves. All Marucci gloves are notorious for featuring little to no break in time, meaning that this glove is ready to perform as soon as it’s taken out of the box. There’s something about this glove’s camel tan and black colorway with dark red lacing that makes it extremely easy on the eyes. All things considered (especially the affordable price), it’s tough to top this Marucci Oxbow Series outfield glove.

Marucci Krewe Catcher’s Mitt

undefined

The Marucci Krewe Catcher’s Mitt is made with a smooth, full-grain cowhide leather shell with supple leather palm lining with added cushioning, includes a narrow-tapered hand stall sizing for ideal fit, an innovative microfiber wrist lining and finger lining for a smooth texture and flexible feel. Plus, like Marucci’s other offerings, this Krewe catcher’s mitt utilizes an M Type fit system to provide integrated thumb and pinky sleeves with enhanced thumb stall cushioning to maximize comfort and feel. The 32 inch Marucci Krewe Catcher’s Mitt is currently retailing for $89.99, and can be found at the same price on SidelineSwap.

Our Expert’s Take:

I hadn’t ever heard of a Marucci Krewe catcher’s mitt before conducting research for a ‘Best Catcher’s Mitts of 2023’ list. And as I asked around and scoured the internet, this Krewe mitt kept popping up—especially when pertaining to youth baseball. From what I’ve heard, this glove is going to be more of a budget pick, but still offers a fantastic amount of durability and consistency for a catcher’s mitt. It’s also offered in both a left-handed and right-handed version, which is extremely rare for a catcher’s mitt. And since I’m a lefty, that wins this mitt brownie points in by book. Still, though, bias aside, this Marucci Krewe is a dependable catcher’s mitt, and should be on your short list if you’re seeking a combination of quality and affordability.

Marucci Capitol First Basemen’s Mitt

undefined

The Marucci Capitol first basemen’s mitt is crafted with premium Japanese-tanned USA kip leather to combine ideal structure and lightweight feel. The glove’s lining is made from the highest-grade cabretta sheepskin lining, which provides luxurious texture and enhanced comfort. The Marucci Capitol’s laces are constructed from professional-grade rawhide to provide maximum tear-resistance while adding structure to the glove pattern. Marucci’s Capitol first basemen’s mitt is 13 inches long, comes with a double bar post web, and is currently retailing for $339.99.

Our Expert’s Take:

When it comes to Marucci’s signature glove series, I might have saved the best for last. What’s for certain is that Marucci’s Capitol series is their highest quality (and most expensive) offering. For one, these Capitol gloves are handcrafted, which isn’t something you see with every Marucci glove. And the premium USA kip leather (which is what Rawlings Pro Preferred gloves are made from) is the best cowhide that money can buy. I will say, though, that the reviews aren’t completely positive with this glove. Some customers haven’t been happy about how quick this glove deteriorated, or the laces coming undone after just a few weeks of use. This isn’t ideal, of course, but this glove does come with a 30 day money back guarantee, so if you aren’t completely satisfied with the Capitol first basemen’s mitt then you can return it for a full refund. I have a hunch that you won’t want to return it, though.

Conclusion

Considering everything that Marucci has accomplished in their first 10 years, I’m looking forward to seeing where they go from here. What’s clear is that they’ve gone all-in on trying to be the number one baseball equipment producer. Ultimately, though, it isn’t going to be up to Marucci whether they achieve this ambitious goal. It’s going to be up to you—the customer. And I’d guess that, if you give one of these Marucci offerings a try, you might become a Marucci fan for the long haul.
