Slowpitch Softball Bats

Most slowpitch softball bats come in 26 oz., 27 oz., 28 oz., and 30 oz. Bigger players with stronger swings should generally choose a heavier bat (either 28 oz. or 30 oz.) whereas smaller or average sized players who need more speed should choose a lighter bat in the range of 26 oz. to 28 oz.

As a general rule, bigger, stronger players usually prefer a heavier bat for maximum power. Smaller players usually benefit from a lighter bat that allows greater bat speed to compensate for their lack of strength.

Although end loaded bats aren't recommended for younger or less-experienced players, they are popular with stronger, more advanced hitters. By placing more mass directly in the hitting zone, strong hitters are able to generate more momentum allowing the ball to travel farther.

Two-piece bats are more flexible at the handle and tip of the bat, which provides better ball control and helps generate more power. In contrast, one-piece bats have a solid design that creates a more rigid structure and increases the amount of power transferred to the ball upon contact.
