Bauer Vapor 2X Pro Hockey Goalie Full Set

The Bauer Vapor 2X Pro hockey goalie set builds upon Bauer's reputation for innovation and lightweight construction in goalie equipment. This set includes Bauer's proprietary "Curv Composite" technology in the leg pads and blocker and a redesigned boot and strapping system for a more locked-in feel. The 2X Pro has improved flexibility for aggressive movements with its "Free Flex" technology in the pads, allowing for a wider range of motion in the butterfly slide and lateral pushes. This set solidifies the Vapor line's position at the forefront of Bauer's goalie equipment offerings.

Perfect set for:
A goalie who wants a flexible pad to slide fast and kick out pucks.

Key features include:

Curv Composite TechnologyThis material in the leg pads is both lightweight and stiff, providing flexibility for aggressive movements while offering strong rebounds and better protection.
Free Flex Mobility BootThis design in the leg pads allows for unrestricted butterfly movements and quicker recoveries. It provides a close fit to the goalie's leg without sacrificing flexibility.
Natural 60-Degree ClosureAllows for a full hand closure with the index finger meeting at the base of the thumb, which most goalies prefer.
Lightweight ConstructionThe entire Vapor 2X Pro set prioritizes lightweight materials for enhanced mobility and reduced fatigue during intense games.

Top Competitors

The CCM Flex 4 offers Speed Skin Technology which reduces weight and friction for improved mobility, while the overall design offers a slightly stiffer feel compared to the Vapor 2X Pro, which boasts a feather-light construction and high flexibility. The stiffer feel of the Flex 4 can provide goalies with more predictable rebound control and a sense of control in the crease. The Mach offers a good balance of weight, flexibility, and a more traditional feel. The redesigned Mach core contributes to a lighter weight compared to previous Bauer models, while the overall structure allows for powerful pushes and a more stable base for aggressive goalies.

Progression of the Bauer Vapor 2X Pro Goalie Set

Building off successful aspects of the 1X, the 2X Pro includes upgraded design elements to make the Vapor line perform even better. Some key upgrades include:

  • An upgraded C.O.R TECH ST skin

  • A single-T design (for faster and easier glove closure), which is different from the split T on the 1X.

  • A new max-depth pocket allows the glove to trap and keep pucks

  • Thermocore material, which keeps goalies from overheating while absorbing sweat and drying quickly.

  • New Catchlite technology in the palm break and T-Trap.

  • A free flex backhand allows more mobility in general.

  • Fast Strap system allowing goalies to quickly tighten their glove.

  • A 50% reduction to the blocker board using a new thinner Curv Composite and HD foam.

  • The palm of the blocker features Bauer's new Quattro Ivory Pro material which is an updated sanitized odor-resistant treatment that keeps the material clean.

👍 Pros
The pad is super flexible with two internal breaks both above and below the knee and no external breaks.
Dirty ice did not slow down my slides at all! I’m able to really move around with the same ease as the fresh ice.
After a few games, these pads feel like two light pillows on my legs, making skating and moving almost effortless. I’d definitely recommend the 2X Pro.
👎 Cons
There are way too many ways to adjust the strapping on the leg pads.
The interior leg wrap often gets caught on my skate, exposing my ankles to undue risk. It's easy enough to fix, but kind of a pain.
I find Bauer Pro stock harder and far more expensive to find.
The 2X Pro offers a specific core that doesn't lose shape over time. It has excellent durability and stiff rebounds and is known for its great seal and sliding. The 2X Pro has an incredibly simple strapping system across the back of the leg where you look at it, and it's almost like there's nothing there. The glove and blocker were extremely popular when they came out; when I was working at the retail level, I couldn't keep them on the shelves because they were known for having that broken-in feel you could play with right away.
