### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* My son loves the 30", 5oz Easton Fire bat. It's hot straight out of the wrapper and feels lighter than his old one. The colors are bold but the grip is great. It has a normal composite bat sound and a well-balanced swing with a lot of pop. Highly recommended.
* My son switched to Easton Hype Fire bat after being a fan of Marucci for years. He loves the huge sweet spot, lighter weight and tons of pop. According to him, it's the perfect bat for USSSA.
* I love to see the confidence this bat gives my son. He's a very strong hitter, but with this bat, I see him being more patient, trusting his swing more, and hitting harder balls.

**CONS**

* My son used this bat for about 2-3 months before small cracks in the bat started to form. He still used it because his old bat (30-inch -8 Demarini Zoa) was broken. It is an amazing bat but it probably won't last a full season in 13U baseball because of the speed.
* My son's new bat, a 30" (-8), has a small 1/2" crack after just two sessions of coach pitch BP with around 50 hits. It's brittle and we've never used it on a tee or machine. I'm surprised at how quickly it broke.
* I wish they were made stronger. It has great pop, great swing but the durability is lacking. Our original purchase cracked in a month and our replacement cracked in 2 months.

### Certification: USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Hype Fire is the hottest, lightest swinging bat right now. The swing rate is very fast. It's a balanced, two piece composite bat. The first ones that came out had some breakage issues but they are now on that bat's second gen. We've not seen any of the new ones breaking. And to top it all off, it has the coolest paint job. The flames are yellow, orange, and red. The players love that.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- I've always used Easton gear for baseball. Got this bat for my 9-year-old and it's impressive. Good pop and similar to the Easton Ghost, but with more power.

- Nearly every player on our son's team uses or borrows this bat. It's popular because it hits home runs well.

- I am 12 years old and I hit a home run in my last game with my Rawlings bat. Looking forward to next year!

**CONS**

- I got two bats for my kids, a 29-11 and a 30-10. Both broke even though we used them properly and never misused them. I had to send them back to the manufacturer.

- My son loved the bat, it improved his confidence and hitting skills. However, it cracked unexpectedly despite following the instructions. We're disappointed with the quality, and my son was heartbroken.

- Although the bat was great while it worked, it's disappointing that it failed after just one year, especially not at the barrel. There seem to be manufacturing and durability issues with this expensive bat.

### Certification: USA, USSSA, BBCOR

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

The Easton ADV 360 is a two-piece composite bat. It has a light swing and big barrel. Perfect for the younger hitter. I think it is popular because of the paint job, which is bright neon yellow. It is more of a look than a performance bat, but still a very good bat that doesn’t have a huge amount of breakage. It's an average bat for either Little League or USSSA.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* After extensive research, we found the perfect bat for our 10-year-old. It boosted his confidence and impressed his teammates. We recommend avoiding two-piece composite bats as they don't last long.
* Bought this bat for my son playing in the minors. Great balance and pop. Added taper to the knob, and he loves it.
* The crack of the bat is sweet, didn't sting, very light for a 30 inch, grip is comfortable.

**CONS**

* After about two weeks, noticed the sound and feel was different on contact. Inspected the bay and found a small fracture/crack.
* The bat feels hard, but there is also a ton of sting.
* Cracked within the first couple games.

### **Certification**: USA

### Expert Notes (Parker)

The Easton ADV1 is a great entry-level bat that performs at a high level for USABat Certification. A composite bat that is a balanced lightweight bat that will perform for any hitter contact or power. For someone who is required to use USABat Certification this bat is going to be great for those higher-level players within USABat certification. The lightweight composite allows all kids to have the confidence to compete with the better pitchers who may throw faster.

### Expert Notes
Speed is indeed the name of the game for one of Easton’s flagship alloy bat series. The most recent 2022 Easton Speed bat has a one-piece composite construction, and
features the company’s Hyperlite material, which makes for an astonishingly fast swing. And while this release is beloved by us and others, many hitters have told me that
nothing beats the 2019 Easton Speed release, which became famous for its green handle, black barrel, and outstanding production at every level and age group. Regardless of which model you use, one thing is clear: hitters craft a special connection with their Easton Speed bats. Swinging a Speed might be all you need to accelerate your game.

### Expert Notes
Endurance is the name of the game when it comes to Easton’s Mako bat series. Despite being discontinued in 2017, Easton Mako bats continue to sell very well in the modern market. This two-piece composite bat offers an additional jolt of pop at the plate, and its anti-vibration technology makes getting jammed a little less painful—physically, at least. The 2016 Easton Mako, in particular, has ascended into baseball bat folklore because of its neon green colorway and insane ability to demolish baseballs (although some hitters prefer the orange 2015 model, too). Considering the fantastic prices you can find Easton Mako’s listed at, it remains a top metal bat value pick.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- I bought the Easton Ghost bat (28/18) for my 7-year-old son, who plays kid pitch. It's great! No vibration, excellent pop. He's excelled in batting since he started using it. Worth the cost. Highly recommended!

- Bought the 29-inch version instead of the 28-inch for my 8-year-old. It makes a cracking sound, but he hits 20 feet further with it than his old bat. No vibration issues yet. Overall, a solid bat.

- My 11-year-old son loved this bat. He used it in a tournament right out of the package and almost all of his team used it too. They scored 19 runs in that game.

**CONS**

- Bought for 9-year-old. Looks cool but has a small sweet spot and hand vibrations. Decent pop, but needs 100 swings to break in."

- Prices do NOT align with quality.

- I bought the X-Evolution baseball bat on sale for my son, but it never performed well. Hits only made it to the infield, and there's a dead spot in the barrel's last 3-4 inches. This makes it challenging to hit outside pitches.

### Certification: USA, USSSA

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

The Ghost X Evolution is a two piece composite bat. It’s one of the better Little League bats of 2019 because it has a lighter weight and is easy to swing. In the USA marketplace, it was probably one of the better bats. It has a cool paint job, which is attractive for a Little Leaguer, where looks can often be more of a consideration than performance.

The Easton ADV Hype metal bat series is a batting average’s best friend. Considering
the success of older ADV Hype models, it’s surprising to see that the 2022 ADV Hype

updates were well-received. Still older ADV Hype models have a lot to offer

The Easton Ghost X Hyperlite holds its ground with its focus on lightweight design and swing speed, making it especially suitable for younger players or those looking to improve bat speed. While the Louisville Slugger Meta boasts a more advanced vibration-dampening system, and the DeMarini CF Zen offers a more balanced swing weight, the Ghost X Hyperlite excels in rapid swing speed and comfort.

### Progression of the Easton Ghost X Hyperlite series

Here is a list that details the progression of this series, highlighting the main features and advancements with each new model.

**2018** **-** **[Ghost X Hyperlite](https://www.google.com/url?q=https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/easton/ghost-x-hyperlite/l681&sa=D&source=docs&ust=1709920236144542&usg=AOvVaw0nOBKEVKMAWHPAYKwmVL1t) (Initial Release)**

 **2019 -** **Updated Versions/Models**
- Continued focus on lightweight design for quick bat speed.
- Further enhancements to the EXACT Carbon composite material to improve vibration damping.
- Refined SPEED CAP design for better barrel flexibility and sound.
- Maintained the use of LIZARD SKINS™ grip for optimal hand comfort and control.

***Easton hasn't explicitly named a series as "Ghost X Hyperlite" beyond 2019, transitioning to new lines and names while keeping the core idea of innovating lightweight and high-performance bats.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* My 8-year-old son finds the bat comfortable, well-balanced, and lightweight, with a great grip and pop.
* My child enjoys using it. It has a satisfying sound when hit solidly, but it lacks pop due to being a USA bat.
* A little heavy for a six-year-old, but it's a good bat for raking when choking up. Great value for closeouts!
*

**CONS**

* After using this bat in two games, my son found it disappointing as the ball didn't travel far, likely due to its weight.
* If you're looking for extreme pop and exit speed, this may not be the best option for you.
* I didn't notice much of a difference in how the ball came off this bat compared to my son's $75 bat.

### **Certifications**:

USSSA, USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

This USA bat is designed for little league or a pony leagues. It won't be a very high-performance bat and, in general, is designed for safety. Typically, your little leaguer, who uses the USA stamp, is a player at an entry-level ability. With that said, the Ghost X Hyperlite was one of the best available USA bats. But any USA bat is going to be a mediocre performer overall. The Ghost X Hyperlite is very lightweight and very easy to swing. Smaller players do well with it.

Ghost X Composite

### Expert Notes
Although Easton’s Ghost X bat series was discontinued in 2019, it continues to haunt pitchers (including me). Power hitters in particular rave about how big the two-piece, composite Ghost X bat’s barrel is while not sacrificing swing speed, which leads to smashing balls on the sweet spot. The most recent 2019 Ghost X evolved from older Ghost models by allowing for very little vibration when you hitters out there get jammed on a filthy inside fastball. The natural evolution from Easton’s legendary Mako bat series, their Ghost X bat line is still highly sought after by hitters of all ages and skill levels. And since a Ghost X bats’ power doesn’t diminish over time, you hitters should expect a power boost when wielding this Easton stick at the dish.

Mako Beast Composite

### Expert Notes
The Easton Mako Beast is proof that some bats surpass their expected expiration date.
Released in 2017, this Easton model offers a deadly combo of a light swing and a big
barrel to create a terrifying bat for we pitchers. The two-piece, composite Mako Beast
evolved from Easton’s legendary Mako bat series (my favorite metal bat of all time), but was updated to include a longer barrel than the original Mako. Aside from that, not
much else has changed between older Mako models and the 2018 Mako Beast (not
including this bat’s sweet black matte colorway with grey accents). Although Easton has
released a number of excellent metal bats over the years, many hitters
consider the 2017 Beast Mako to be one of their all-time best. And if you use this bat, you
might reach your peak, as well.

Fuze Hybrid

Maxum 360 Composite

### Expert Notes
Big barrels are the main attraction for Easton’s Maxum 360. A direct descendant of the
Combat Maxum line, the newest 2020 model delivers that same XXL barrel that fans of the original will crave. And you will be
thrilled to know the Easton Maxum 360 offers the same LizardSkin grip that the original
Maxums from 2016, 2017, and 2018 were adored for. There’s something about this
bat’s orange, grey, and white colorway that hitters swear enhances their swag
at the plate. If you like one-piece composite bats that don’t hold back in pop production,
then you’ll love the Easton Maxum 360 metal bat.

XL1 Composite

### Expert Notes
Easton’s XL1 bat series retired while it was still on top—but that doesn’t mean these
bats should stop seeing steady use. The most recent Easton XL1 release was in 2015,
with a bright orange bat that came with a two-piece composite, end loaded feel that was
preferred by many of my power hitter teammates. These same hitters also mentioned
that the neon yellow 2014 XL1 model is not only equally good as its newer orange
evolution, but also one of the best metal bats of all time. (_Pitcher's note_: I still have trauma
from all the bombs that Easton XL1 bats have hit against me.)

Beast X Alloy

### Expert Notes
The 2018 Beast X is another stellar addition to the Easton metal bat family. It achieved a sort of cult status upon its release due to it being one of the lightest one piece alloy bats available—and many baseball players (me included) really love the highlighter yellow colorway it came with. In my opinion, it’s the best looking metal bat that Easton bat ever made. The Beast X evolved from Easton’s Z-Core line of bats, although it adds a lizard skin grip and lighter swing speed that the Z-Core models didn’t have. If you don’t want to break the bank on a balanced, lightweight, aesthetically pleasing bat, consider the Easton Beast X this season.

Z-Core Alloy

### Product Description

The Easton Z-Core features Lock and Load technology, which allows you to adjust your swing weight. There are three on-the-fly swing weight settings to choose from: Speed, Balanced, or XL. This makes the Z-Core bat a highly customizable option for different hitting styles. The Z-Core also features one of the longest aluminum barrels that you’ll find. Easton’s patented Hyperlite Matrix (HMX) alloy helps to deliver a huge sweet spot and an incredible amount of pop. Lastly, the handle features Easton's Hyperskin Grip to reduce vibration and provide a comfortable grip experience for hitters.

### Expert Notes

The 2016 Easton Z-Core is a single-piece aluminum alloy bat with a balanced swing. The Z-Core, not to be confused with the Z-Core Torq or Z-Core XL, incorporates an internal composite reinforcement along the length of its barrel. This gives the bat a considerably large barrel for a single-piece alloy. Easton often refers to this as ‘Mako-izing’ the bat which is a reference to the Easton Mako’s large barrel size.

- RevGrip: Tapered Premium Grip provides cushion and track.

- Aerodynamic Design: Enhances swing speed without sacrificing power.

### Top competitors comparison: [Marucci CAT X Composite](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/marucci/cat-x-composite/l175805) and the [Louisville Slugger Meta](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/baseball/bats/louisville-slugger/meta/l59403)

The big barrels on the Marucci CAT X Composite and the Louisville Slugger META, both feature flexible-feeling two-piece composite constructions. In comparison, the 2023 Rawlings Icon stands out with its In/Tense carbon composite construction which maximizes barrel size while maintaining it’s stiffness, perfect for big hitters. Each bat caters to specific league regulations and player preferences, with the CAT X Composite and META offering composite technology, while the Rawlings Icon features a zero-loss collar and connection joint creating a smooth connection between handle and barrel.

### Progression of the Rawlings ICON Baseball Bat:

2023 is the first year of the Rawlings ICON.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- The Rawlings Icon is a beast on the field. Hits are powerful and consistent.

- The sweet spot on this thing is like a magnet for the ball. It's tough as nails and can take a beating, which is exactly what you need in the game.

- It's light and easy to swing. The ICON gives me control on the barrel. It feels lighter than other -3 bats. There is ZERO sting on this carbon composite. The ICON has a HUGE sweet spot and pop

**CONS**

- The stock grip is just kinda okay – not as sticky or comfy as I expected. It's no deal-breaker, though. Folks generally like to tweak their grips to suit their style.

- I'm not a big fan of the tapered knob on the ICON because I like to feel the handle more at the bottom (purely preference), but the handle feels fantastic.

- The barrel cracked at the base of the handle. Travel ball practice starts this week and his brand new Icon is useless.

### Certification: BBCOR, USSSA, and USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The ICON is the new hot bat from Rawlings. It's the top bat in the market right now. In terms of sales, very popular. You've got a lot of guys online doing reviews on it. I think the hype comes from the merger between Easton and Rawlings. They've got a lot of technology and have come up with a really strong-performing bat this season.

There is no 2022 version of the Atlas. It’s compared to the single-piece Solo which also used a variable wall thickness and unique end cap to keep the bat light.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* My 14-year-old son needed a new BBCOR bat. He likes the one he got as it swings light and the barrel seems huge, although it's very loud.
* My son has been swinging a Cat X composite. I was not seeing the bat speed I thought he should have by now, I bought him the Atlas and from the first swing I saw a difference on bat speed.
* Balanced bat with a massive sweet spot which makes it easy to catch barrel. As well as great improvements in durability.

**CONS**

* Loudest bat especially in cages. Bat has a rattle in it and we have only had it 3 months.
* The bat has so much vibration.
* Way to loud. It's distracting.

### Certification: BBCOR, USSSA, USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Louieville Slugger Atlas is a newer bat that's been out for two years now. It's the next bat in the same generation as the Louisville Slugger Solo. It is a one-piece design, very easy to swing. Flashy paint job. It’s one of the top couple of bats in the alloy market.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- My son hit three home runs with the Goods bat at a college prospect camp this weekend. He says the current version feels amazing and is the best one yet.

- I upgraded to this bat from my broken 2022 Goods. It has phenomenal pop and is the best in the Goods line.

- This bat bangs!!! I bought this bat three weeks ago and this barrel is huge!

**CONS**

- My son loved this bat from day one. After three weeks of use the plastic piece where the shaft meets the barrel cracked. Definitely expect something better than this for $450. Haven't started the warranty process yet so we'll see how that goes.

- The bat handle now telescopes into the barrel after the junction cracked. We had expected better quality for the price and it's hard to accept a replacement that arrives 2-3 weeks later at best.

- Bat bought 2 months ago broke when I dropped it. It's a good bat but not very durable. Connector piece broke and it telescoped.

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

The Goods is a top performer and the 2024 model is the most expensive hybrid bat on the market. It's an end loaded bat for that power hitter in your lineup. The alloy is strong, and it has a good whip to it. Overall, The Goods is in the top five in the hybrids for both BBCOR and youth. The youth was less popular because it was a heavier-feeling.

**PROS**

- It has a large sweet spot, making it perfect for power hitters to hit balls off and over the fence, even in colder weather.

- This bat is amazing! With a slight end load and tons of pop, it's the perfect choice for any player. We're so happy we made this purchase - it's definitely worth it!

- This bat has a huge sweet spot, is super forgiving on the hands, has no vibration in the handle, and is more durable than other bbcor bats.

**CONS**

- Unfortunately, after the first tournament it already has a slight rattle in the barrel.

- I purchased this bat a month ago. After hitting two foul balls, the bat got scratched beyond my expectations.

- This bat has no pop, feels like a USA bat, should be a cage bat, no pop, no pop!

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* This bat has a fantastic feel, sound, and performance on miss-hits. It boasts one of the largest sweet spots in BBCOR. Although it lacks feedback, it is very easy to swing.
* Great feel and pop. Although I usually change grips, the stock grip on this bat is solid. The durability is very impressive as well, as the bat has already outlasted most others.
* No failures on Meta bats except cosmetic chips. They perform better than new. High school varsity team used 32-3 for 2 years without issues. Change grip tape yearly and keep hitting!

**CONS**

* The finish will chip if hit against spikes.
* It's expensive.... and not crazy about the color.
* This bat has no pop.

### **Certification**: BBCOR, USSSA

### Expert Notes (Parker)

The Louisville Slugger Meta is still a slightly newer model. The meta is similar to the DeMarini CF which offers a lightweight composite handle with a huge barrel made for every sort of hitter. A popular series that offers great jump-off-the-barrel when you hit the sweet spot and keeps the sting off your hands when the ball is missed on the cap or handle.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* This is an excellent one-piece bat with a balanced feel.
* My son is using his first BBCOR bat. Although he was previously using a -5 USSSA bat, he hasn't noticed any difference in the weight. He has already had success with it on the big ball field this fall. This one-piece alloy bat is great, especially in the Northeast where temperatures are cooler.
* I am very satisfied with this bat. My son has recently started playing on a 60/90 field. This bat has excellent balance and a large sweet spot. It has great pop right out of the wrapper, so there is no need to break it in. Additionally, it looks great too.

**CONS**

* Bat is too light, causing players to swing early. It doesn't have as much power as a BBCOR composite bat.
* Not suitable for heavy hitters; ideal for children who require a lighter bat for swinging. Grip must be perfect, or it will sting hands.
* The sound changed, and when the handle was tapped on the ground, it produced a vibrating sound.

### **Certification**: BBCOR, USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

DeMarini's Voodoo One swings light and offers a ton of pop thanks to its stiff one-piece alloy construction. While the small barrel might not be for everyone, contact hitters and power swingers both appreciate its speed and distance potential. If you're a player seeking a light bat with serious pop, the Voodoo One deserves a swing.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* Good bat, with less pop than 1-piece aluminum. Ideal for singles with a lighter swing weight. Composite material, so have 2 bats for high competition.
* My son is 11 years old. I was worried he would struggle to swing a 30/20 bat this year, considering he used a 29/19 bat last year. However, this bat is amazing! It is hot right out of the wrapper. I wouldn't even think about using another bat this year; this one is perfect.
* This is the best overall USA bat on the market. It has decent pop and great balance, making it a high-quality option.

**CONS**

* "The bat developed cracks in the sweet spot from regular use during batting practice. After six months, the cracks grew larger until there were two major ones, resembling a cave-in."
* Bat has pop but I've had a couple of friends crack this same bat after 4 games.
* Bought it for my son, 2nd time he used it, it cracked. He only hit league baseballs with it in warm weather.

### **Certification**: BBCOR, USSSA, USA

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

The CF Zen has been discontinued. The early models from 2017 - 2021 were called CF Zens. After that, DeMarini changed the name to CF. The first models of the CF Zen were very high-performance. But they also tended to break, so DeMarini made them stronger, made them stiffer, made them more durable. And when they did that, the bats didn't hit as well. The early models were better performers than the later models.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* Bought for son transitioning to BBCOR. Light and balanced. Good pop and sound. Great balanced BBCOR bat!
* Like cheating, it’s awesome! Whole barrel is super hot. 33” sweet spot
* Bat has huge sweet spot. Lots of pop!

**CONS**

* My son's bat grip is separating already. The bat lacks the usual sound of CatX or Cat8 bats. We paid extra for the grip, but it's coming apart fast.
* The price doesn't deserve more than 4 stars, but we appreciate the fast shipping and the name engraving.
* Bought this bat for my 14 year old, felt good during batting practice, but the second he hit the ball in game it broke in half! 500 dollars down the drain.

The CAT X Composite is very, very easy to swing. Not quite as popular as the CF in terms of performance. There are newer Marucci bats out there that are stronger, hotter-performing bats. But it's still a top top-tier bat. It's right up there with the CAT9 composite, but it doesn't get the notoriety because you've got some newer bats on the market with cooler paint jobs.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* Decent pop and has good barrel control. It seems lighter due to the way it;s balanced. If you’re thinking of moving up in size, do it with this bat.
* I got my son the CAT X BBCOR 33" bat. He chose it over his Voodoo One for his high school varsity games. The CAT X seems well-built, and other players using it have had no issues. In contrast, two of his teammates' Voodoo One bats have already broken this season.
* The grip is cushioned and comfortable. The liquid gel handle reduces vibrations and the "sweet spot" on the barrel is forgiving. Highly recommend this bat.

**CONS**

* The BBCOR Cat X is by far the worst Marucci we've ever bought. It has NO Pop and sounds like he's hitting rocks with the bat. The ball barely leaves the infield when he hits it.
* Broken in by underhand toss of 160 pitches. Handle broke in a week. Wearing gloves saved the my son's hands.
* Unfortunately my son has been using this bat for only a few weeks and there is already something rattling in the handle.

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

CATX came out in 2023. The first gen is a white ribbon silver bat. For the second run, Marucci came out with a version called the CATX Vanta. It's a blacked-out, limited-edition. Both gens are an alloy one-piece bat, both very strong performers. They took the alloy and strength from the CAT9 and applied the balance and feel from the CAT8 to develop the CATX.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* A kid in a slump hit his first-ever home run with this bat. It arrived just in time for a playoff game and worked great for my average-sized 11-year-old son - not too heavy.
* After breaking in this bat properly, it really performs well! My son uses it for our USSSA 8U Travel team and you can easily tell when it's hit on the sweet spot. The bat is also forgiving on mis-hits, often resulting in faster grounders than usual (for this age group) and very high pop.
* This bat has more pop than most USA bats, similar to BBCOR/USSA. We broke it in with tee hits, and my son hit missiles and balls over the fence on the first day. Expensive, but worth it for avid players.

**CONS**

* Great indoor results with the new non-Easton bat during coach pitch pre-season. Disappointing mid-season pop-up infield hits. I've always used Easton before, won't try other brands again.
* Great pop, but poor performance when missing sweet spot. Treated with care, but still cracked in Apr. Son upset I didn't allow use in cold weather, with heavy balls or pitching machines. It was mostly used as game bat last year, did not last into 2nd season.
* My son's bat barrel cracked after hitting his first HR, leaving him without a bat during All Stars and elimination series.

### Expert Notes (Parker)

The DeMarini CF is a classic model that goes back to 2015 and offers one of the hottest models (2017) but is limited in use as its performance surpasses bat standards. Overall, the CF reflects a classic design which has been the same since 2015. A two-piece composite that offers a large barrel and sweet spot with a lightweight handle that creates a whip-like feel to it with the flexible connection between the handle and barrel.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

- Great for kids who need to "feel the barrel" during their swing. The ball jumps off this bat well. It has never collapsed and provides enough feedback to know how you hit it. Vibration is only felt when hitting the handle.

- "My 12-year-old son upgraded to a Marucci Cat 9 -5 bat from a 30" -8 bat and is hitting great with it. Although the bat is heavier, it is well-balanced and solid. Highly recommended for kids upgrading to a -5."

- Bought the Cat 9 BBCOR bat for my 13-year-old son. It's well-balanced and has good pop for a one-piece. Vibration-resistant knob helps with miss hits. My son loves it and is hitting the ball well.

**CONS**

- Good bat for my 10-year-old, but didn't hold up well in New England cold spring. Dead after one AAU season despite hard hits and dingers. Would have given 5 stars if it lasted longer.

- My son used this bat for 1 season and it has multiple dents in it. He is 12 and weighs about 70 pounds. Thought I would get more than 1 season out of the bat.

- Bought a bat for my 6-year-old son a year ago. It's good but lacks the power and balance of CATX Aluminum. Looking for sales to buy CATX.

### Certification: BBCOR

### Expert Notes ([Tony from BatExperts](https://sidelineswap.com/batexperts))

They took the same design from the CAT8 and strengthened the CAT9 with a stronger alloy to avoid any denting issues. It's a very good, durable bat. The CAT9 will be a bit heavier than the CAT8; it's a better bat for stronger kids. The first generation of the CAT9 came out with a gray, black, and red paint job. The second generation they called the Past Time, which was red, white, and blue. It's the same bat, but a different paint job. The second bat was more popular simply because of how it looked. Everyone likes the American Flag with its Stars and Stripes.

* **Continuous Fiber Composite Barrel:** Crafted for a lighter, more durable barrel with a massive sweet spot for unparalleled power and consistency.
* **Direct Connection Handle:** Offers superior energy transfer and a stiff feel on contact, designed for players who crave immediate feedback with each swing.
* **ReAction End Cap:** Increases barrel performance without sacrificing swing speed, optimizing the balance between power and control.
* **Two-Piece Composite Construction:** Delivers a blend of speed and power, allowing for maximum bat speed and a more efficient energy transfer.
* **Anomaly End Cap:** This precision-engineered end cap complements the Zoa's lightweight design, ensuring a blend of speed and balance that's rare in high-performance bats.

The DeMarini Zoa sets itself apart with its Continuous Fiber Composite Barrel, offering a unique blend of durability, power, and a vast sweet spot. While the Louisville Slugger Meta is renowned for its EKO composite barrel, emphasizing a combination of swing speed and barrel control, and the Easton Maxum Ultra is favored for its seamless carbon construction providing the longest barrel in the game, the Zoa specializes in delivering a high-performance hitting experience with enhanced feedback and energy transfer, making it a prime choice for competitive players aiming to maximize their impact at the plate.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

**PROS**

* My son just got a new bat to replace his META and it's great! It's hot out of the wrapper, has a forgiving barrel and almost no vibration. He absolutely crushed the ball. We can't wait to see how it performs when it's fully broken in.
* If you like end-loaded bats, this one has surprising pop with low noise. It feels good when squared up and I personally love it. My rating is 8/10.
* "This bat increased my exit velocity and feels smooth when swinging. It's the best bat I've ever used."

**CONS**

* This bat is heavy and can be hard to locate the barrel. I recommended for very strong players. If you swing a drop 5 alloy, try a drop 8 Zoa.
* Sounds dead. My son hates it. We bought this bat because of the good reviews. Its expensive and has no pop.
* Only downside is that the weather needs to be warmer or it will crack the bat due to it being all composite.

### **Certification**: BBCOR

### Expert Notes ([Tony](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/batexperts))

The Zoa has a strong barrel and connection, making it a heavier, end loaded bat overall. Your smaller players don't get the same bat speed or same performance with that Zoa as they do with the CF. The Zoa is one of those power hitter two-piece composites.
