DeMarini CF Zen Baseball Bats

DeMarini's CF Zen baseball bat boasts a lightweight, two-piece composite construction for a smooth swing and maximum bat control. This translates into easy generation of bat speed to drive the ball deep, while the Paraflex Plus Composite Barrel delivers a large sweet spot for consistent, powerful contact. Plus, the 3-Fusion End Cap optimizes the sweet spot for a larger hitting zone and a more explosive pop on every swing. Batters looking for even more exit velo should check out the 2017 version: the Green Zen (aka the Green GOAT).

Perfect bat for:
Hitters who seek to maximize their swing speed without sacrificing control.

Key features include:

Paraflex Plus Composite BarrelEngineered for consistent responsiveness and a huge sweet spot, delivering maximum pop.
3Fusion ConnectionReduces vibration for a comfortable feel while redirecting energy back into the barrel.
ReAction End CapIncreases barrel performance without sacrificing swing speed, enhancing the bat's overall balance.
Balanced Swing WeightOptimizes bat speed and control, making it easier for hitters to meet and drive the ball.
Two-piece Composite ConstructionOffers an ideal combination of weight, balance, and flexibility, promoting a more efficient swing path.

Top competitors comparison

The CF Zen prioritizes bat speed with its lightweight build for easy swings and a massive sweet spot thanks to the Paraflex Plus Composite Barrel. The Meta swings a bit heavier but offers similar pop with its EKO composite barrel, focusing on a balanced swing weight for precision. The Quatro Pro falls between the two, offering a comfortable swing weight and a large sweet spot with its two-piece composite construction, making it a good choice for balanced performance.

Progression of the CF Zen Series

Here is a list that details the progression of this series, highlighting the main features and advancements with each new model.

2017 - CF Zen (Initial Release)
  • New and stronger carbon fiber, allowing for less material to be used up in barrel and handle construction.

  • Introduction of Paraflex composite, creating its ultra light swing weight by more optimally weighting the end cap and knob.

2017 - Green GOAT

The 2017 CF Zen (the 2 5/8 -8 and the 2 3/4 -10) were made illegal in the USSSA world. DeMarini remade the 2017 CF Zen in a -5, now known as the Green GOAT. The -5 balanced was made illegal in Perfect Game events.

2018 - CF Zen
  • Change in the connective piece.
  • Removed bulk in the D-Fusion handle to make it slimmer. This new version is called the 3-Fusion.
2019 - CF Zen Black
  • DeMarini’s CF Zen Black is a limited edition USSSA version of the 2018 DeMarini CF Zen in baseball.
2025 - DeMarini CF Zen

Brand new two-piece composite design for USSSA play. Built with DeMarini's Dark Matter Composite Technology, offering the lightest, largest and highest performing USSSA barrel DeMarini has ever produced.

👍 Pros
This bat is amazing! It is hot right out of the wrapper.
Can't recommend this bat enough. It has pop and great balance.
Of all the bats I've tried this season, the CF Zen was by far the best bat.
👎 Cons
The bat developed cracks in the sweet spot from regular use during batting practice.
Bat has pop but I've had a couple of friends crack this same bat after 4 games.
My son only hit this bat with league baseballs with it in warm weather, and still it cracked.

The CF Zen has been discontinued. The early models from 2017 - 2021 were called CF Zens. After that, DeMarini changed the name to CF. The first models of the CF Zen were very high-performance. But they also tended to break, so DeMarini made them stronger, made them stiffer, made them more durable. And when they did that, the bats didn't hit as well. The early models were better performers than the later models.
