Marucci CAT X Baseball Bat

The Marucci CAT X Baseball Bat features both BBCOR and USSSA certifications and is a single-piece alloy bat with a well-sized barrel and excellent feel. Its multi-variable wall Ring-Free barrel provides consistent power across leagues, while the stiff S-40 composite handle offers a balanced swing weight and reduces vibration for improved comfort. The CAT X also features liquid-gel in the knob which reduces vibrations throughout the hands.

Perfect bat for:
Serious hitters looking to combine power and control at the plate.

Key features include:

AZR Alloy ConstructionOffers a more responsive microstructure for better feel, more forgiveness, and enhanced performance at the plate.
Multi-variable wall designCreates an expanded sweet spot and thinner barrel walls that are more forgiving after off-centered contact.
Ring-free barrel Provides maximum performance with no “dead” spots, ensuring every hit feels solid and powerful.
AV2 Anti-vibration knobFeatures an upgraded, finely tuned harmonic dampening system for better feel and less vibration.
Professionally Inspired HandleFeatures a removable taper and ergonomic knob shape for more top-hand control and comfortable swings.

Top Competitors

iIf you're in need of a single-piece alloy bat, the CAT X has competition. The Voodoo One prioritizes a balanced swing weight and the Slugger Omaha has a slightly less forgiving sweet spot, but it swings the lightest of the three. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your preference: largest sweet spot (Cat X), balanced swing (Voodoo One), or lightest swing weight (Omaha).

Progression of the CAT X

The Marucci CAT X follows the popular CAT 9 that came before it in 2021. Here are the key upgrades:

2023 - Marucci CAT X in BBCOR
  • New longer smoother barrel profile for a more consistent, wider performance area.
  • ~1” lower balance point compared to Cat 9 BBCOR.
  • Thinner handle for more bottom-hand feel.
  • 34mm removable hard taper giving top-hand control and more ergonomic fit.
  • Liquid-Gel knob dampens sting faster and more efficiently than previous anti-vibration knobs.
2025 -
  • A single-piece alloy bat with a larger sweet spot than the 2023 version.
  • A liquid gel in the knob like the CAT X, and also a new endcap.

👍 Pros
Great pop and barrel control. The CATX seems lighter due to the way it’s balanced. If you’re thinking of moving up in size, do it with this bat.
I got my son the CAT X BBCOR 33" bat. It’s well-built and other players seem to love using it as well.
The grip is cushioned and comfortable. The liquid gel handle reduces vibrations and the "sweet spot" on the barrel is forgiving. Highly recommend this bat.
👎 Cons
This bat has NO pop and sounds like hitting rocks. The ball barely leaves the infield when my son hits it.
Broken in by underhand toss of 160 pitches. Handle broke in a week. Wearing gloves saved the my son's hands.
Unfortunately my son has been using this bat for only a few weeks and there is already something rattling in the handle.
CATX came out in 2023. The first gen is a white ribbon silver bat. For the second run, Marucci came out with a version called the CATX Vanta. It's a blacked-out, limited-edition. Both gens are an alloy one-piece bat, both very strong performers. They took the alloy and strength from the CAT9 and applied the balance and feel from the CAT8 to develop the CATX.
