Top Competitors

The Nexus prioritizes a similar balance between power and forgiveness, featuring a Lite Alloy construction for a lighter swing weight and a large sweet spot for consistent hits. The Nexus also uses a two-piece composite design for maximizing energy transfer on contact, similar to the Mako. The CF Zen is another strong contender known for its durability and well-rounded performance. It utilizes a DX1 Fast Alloy double-wall construction for a balance of power and control, similar to the Mako.

Progression of the Easton Mako Bats

The 2016 Easton MAKO’s origin lies in the neon orange MAKO from 2014. The 2015 MAKO didn’t change much from the 2014 version and neither did the 2016 version change much from the 2015. Over the years, the bats are very well reviewed by hitters, come in a plethora of designs and several different models.

👍 Pros
Good sweet spot, good at smacking liners and has a comfortable swing. Love the graphics and color.
I broke in the bat with 150+ swings with 44 core softballs before the game. I hit a HR with my 1st live game at bat. This bat is hot and is durable.
Feels good in the hand and swings easy, and the weight matches exactly what you get.
👎 Cons
It feels a little underpowered compared to other bats when it comes to the pop in the bat.
There really is not much pop at all to this bat. No matter where you connect, it feels dead.
I have never had a bat crack before, but this bat cracked after maybe 15-20 games. Very disappointing.
Both the fastpitch and slowpitch versions of the Mako prioritize a balanced swing weight. This makes them ideal for young hitters who are still refining their swing mechanics. They can focus on bat control and making consistent contact, rather than struggling with a heavier bat. The fastpitch Mako utilizes TCT for a larger sweet spot and a trampoline effect for more pop on contact and the slowpitch Mako features a durable aluminum construction optimized for slowpitch league regulations.
