Sidecut is a measurement that tells you how much edge there is on your skis. Sidecut is measured by the distance between the tips of your skis and their contact points at the center point of the ski (where the binding is attached.).
Generally, a shorter length and a wider width will plow more snow than a longer, narrow one. Narrower skis are typically lighter for better acceleration off the start line and tighter turns...In short, if you want to ski smoother turns, look for a ski with a "wider" sidecut.
