PROS:



* These skates are a solid choice for players looking for a good balance of performance and affordability. The boot offers decent stiffness for powerful strides, and the steel provides good edge control.
* The SpeedBlade XS steel feels lighter than other models, which is nice. The liner is also comfortable and provides good ankle support.
* I've been using these skates for a few months now, and they seem to be holding up well.  The materials feel solid, and I haven't noticed any major wear and tear yet.

* Compared to some higher-end skates, these don't offer a lot of customization options. The liner isn't thermoformable, so you're stuck with a more generic fit.
* These skates are definitely on the stiffer side. While that's good for power transfer, it might be a bit too much for beginner players who are still learning proper skating techniques. 
* I noticed a couple of minor stitching issues on my skates.  Nothing major, but for the price point, I would expect slightly better quality control. Hopefully, this isn't a widespread problem.

The Tacks 9040 is a great skate for people wanting to try out the Tacks line but don't want to spend $1,000 on the top model. This skate will have all the comfort features you'd expect, like the moisture-wicking capability and high-quality foam. These skates don't have the quick-release mechanism, which is usually right under the heel. The blades are durable, but after lots of sharpening, you will need to replace the blade over time. The 9040 is a great option for kids and youth skaters who will outgrow the skate before replacing the blade. It's a good stepping stone.

### Expert Notes 

Aesthetically, this skate is a fan favorite among hockey players who aren’t ashamed to say they care about the look of their gear. JetSpeed FT1 skates are praised for their black contoured boot with subtle red accents. This look is clean and sharp, and is very similar to Bauer’s 1X LE skate. In addition, the soft white tongue is extremely comfortable and adds some flashiness for those players who like to let their tongues fly while they’re skating.
