### Top competitors comparison: the [Bauer Vapor 3X Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/vapor-3x-pro/l165935) and the [True TF9 Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf9/pro-stock/l305705)

The CCM Jetspeed FT6 Pro, known for its focus on explosive acceleration and powerful strides, faces stiff competition from two rivals: the Bauer Vapor 3X Pro and the True TF9 Pro. Both share a high-performance build, but cater to slightly different styles. The Bauer Vapor 3X Pro mirrors the Jetspeed's focus on powerful skating, utilizing a stiff flex profile and a one-piece boot design for maximum energy transfer. However, the Vapor might offer a slightly more anatomical fit thanks to its Curv composite shell. On the other hand, the True TF9 Pro takes a distinct approach. While still lightweight, it prioritizes a heat-moldable shell for a personalized fit and a slightly more forgiving flex profile. This caters to players who value comfort and agility alongside some power transfer, making it a good choice for those who don't prioritize pure power like the Jetspeed and Vapor.

### Progression:

CCM's JetSpeed hockey skates have had various models and updates over the years, offering improvements in speed, performance, and fit. Here are some notable models and updates:

[JetSpeed FT1](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft1/l1305): Introduced as the first skate in the JetSpeed line, the FT1 featured a RocketFrame composite boot, SpeedCore 3 technology, and TotalDri Pro liner.

[JetSpeed FT2](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft2-2/l11100): The FT2 skate introduced L1TE Frame 360 EVO technology, reducing the weight of the boot by 20 grams and improving rigidity. It also featured a wraparound tongue for enhanced fit and comfort.

[JetSpeed FT4 Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft4-pro-2/l165798): This model showcased the Hyperglide runner, which had a lighter blade design. The skate also boasted an asymmetrical toe cap for improved customization and fit.

[JetSpeed FT6 Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft6-pro-5/l330947): The FT6 Pro is part of the 2023 skate lineup, featuring top-of-the-line performance and technology including the new SuperSkin insert which protects the exterior and the ADPT comfort tongue with Flex motion.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates offer a lot of bang for your buck! The one-piece boot is stiff and responsive, providing excellent power transfer for strong strides. They come with the top-of-the-line SpeedBlade XS runners which offer great edge control. For the price point, they feel like a true pro-level skate.
* The Jetspeed FT6 skates are surprisingly comfortable, even for a high-performance model. The liner is thermoformable, which allows for a customized fit around my ankle for better pressure point distribution and overall comfort.
* You get what you pay for. This high-end CCM is perfect for me. I spent about 2 hours trying to find the perfect fit for my feet; the FT6 was it for me. On the ice, this shines even more.

CONS

* They feel heavy on the feet. I have to get used to how heavy they are... I came from wearing the super light Mach supremes every day, so it’s a big difference.
* While the Game Ready Fit helps, there is a break-in period of a few weeks due to the stiffness of the boot. I’m still having some minor discomfort around the ankles.
* Before you purchase make sure the holders are straight!

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The FT6 Pro is basically the FT4 Pro on steroids. It offers really, really good speed and a bit better comfort than the FT4 Pro. It also has more flexibility and memory foam to prevent lace bite, and it addresses range-of-motion issues. This skate offers speed, power, and a good range of motion. You can really dig in and get that power and still go with the angles.

### Perfect skates for:

player who skates 3-4 times per week and is looking for elite features at a lower price point

### Key features include:

* One Piece Boot Power quarter package.
* TotalDri Pro liner featuring Polygiene for high-performance moisture-wicking comfort.
* Customizable fit and comfort with the interchangeable tongue.
* Cushioning and support with the molded CCM Ortholite Ultralite footbed.
* Comfort with memory foam and seamless padding.
* Support and flexibility with the Powerflex Tendon Guard featuring Fiberglass construction.

### Top competitors comparison: the [Bauer Vapor X2.9](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/vapor-x2-9/l60200) and the [True TF9](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf9/l163956)

The CCM Tacks ASV skates feature an anatomical fit with the AttackFrame 2 quarter package and Speedblade XS holder for optimal performance. In comparison, the Bauer Vapor X2.9 skates prioritize speed and agility with a thermoformable boot, tapered fit design, and Tuuk Lightspeed Edge holder. On the other hand, the True TF9 skates prioritize comfort and a custom fit with the True Hockey custom-fit process, Trueform composite boot, and BRT blade holders. Players should consider their playing style, foot shape, and preferences for fit and performance when deciding between these models.

### Progression:

Since the AS-V is a recent release, specific year-over-year upgrades are uncommon. However, subtle upgrades from the previous year and previous AS3 models includes:

* The AS-V is upgraded with its highly advanced One-Piece Boot Power technology.
* All new level of comfort and protection due to the Asymmetrical Tritech Tongue with D30 lite foam.
* Improved tendon guard with fiberglass to increase range of motion for fuller strides and increased skating power.
* Improved spring-lock system that tightly secures the blade to the holder and makes swapping out blades more efficient.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* The one-piece composite boot is stiff and lightweight, providing excellent energy transfer with every push. I noticed a significant difference in my skating speed and agility after switching to the AS-V. They feel very responsive on the ice.
* The one-piece boot on these skates provides a good balance of stiffness for performance and comfort. The multi-density foam core seem to help with the break-in period, making them comfortable to wear for long practices.
* The AS-V is out of this world for comfort in the wide. They have fixed the low volume and the toe cap so no longer rubbing on the top of the foot. I knew these were great as soon as I put them on. I’m glad I didn't settle for the other skates and waited for these to come out.

CONS:

* For sure a longer break-in period due to the stiffness of the boot. I had some ankle soreness during the first few weeks of use.
* The AS-V skates don't offer as many customization options as some other high-end models. The liner is not fully heat-moldable like some other skates.
* I am worried about the blade holder system. They come with plastic insert. Took out and tried to put in V-Steel. Could not get to go in.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The AS-V offers a close, professional fit, and a lot of power. I really love the quick acceleration. The number one thing with this skate is comfort. The padding really secures the ankle and foot while keeping the flexibility to turn and move. The tongue has a funky design, but it allows you to get a full range of motion without feeling insecure in the skate or like it's going to fall off or wobble.

Tacks 9040

# CCM Tacks 9040 Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

The CCM Tacks 9040 is an excellent choice for beginner and recreational hockey players. It's the most affordable skate in the Tacks line, featuring a comfortable injected mesh boot and a supportive microfiber liner. The pre-sharpened, non-replaceable stainless steel blades allow you to hit the ice right away, while the slightly elevated holder provides a more aggressive skating stride. However, these blades cannot be replaced when they become dull, so this skate is not intended for everyday players. Overall, the CCM Tacks 9040 is a good value for casual skaters and newcomers to the sport.

It occupies the entry-level position within the Tacks line, which has been a mainstay in CCM's hockey skate offerings for many years. The Tacks line is known for its focus on stiffness and responsiveness, catering to players who prioritize powerful skating and good ankle support.

### Perfect skates for:

recreational and entry-level player

### Key features include:

* A synthetic embossed quarter shell for durability.
* Heavy-duty microfiber liner for comfort and longevity.
* A low-profile injected outsole.
* CCM Footbed for support and comfort
* A non-replaceable stainless steel runner.

### Top competitors comparison: the [Bauer Nexus N2700](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/nexus-n2700/l9339) and the [True Hockey TF5](https://sidelineswap.com/search?q=True%20TF5).

The Bauer Nexus N2700 skates offer a comparable level of performance to the Tacks 9040 skates, with a focus on comfort and stability. They feature a durable synthetic quarter package and a comfortable, padded liner for enhanced fit and feel. The Nexus N2700 skates also utilize the Tuuk Lightspeed Edge holder system for quick blade changes. On the other hand, the True TF5 skates provide a customizable fit with heat moldable technology, allowing for a personalized fit that adapts to the unique shape of the player's foot. They feature a composite boot construction for improved stiffness and support.

### Progression:

The Tacks line categorizes skates based on player levels but doesn't follow a sequential order within each category.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are a solid choice for players looking for a good balance of performance and affordability. The boot offers decent stiffness for powerful strides, and the steel provides good edge control.
* The SpeedBlade XS steel feels lighter than other models, which is nice. The liner is also comfortable and provides good ankle support.
* I've been using these skates for a few months now, and they seem to be holding up well. The materials feel solid, and I haven't noticed any major wear and tear yet.

CONS:

* Compared to some higher-end skates, these don't offer a lot of customization options. The liner isn't thermoformable, so you're stuck with a more generic fit.
* These skates are definitely on the stiffer side. While that's good for power transfer, it might be a bit too much for beginner players who are still learning proper skating techniques.
* I noticed a couple of minor stitching issues on my skates. Nothing major, but for the price point, I would expect slightly better quality control. Hopefully, this isn't a widespread problem.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The Tacks 9040 is a great skate for people wanting to try out the Tacks line but don't want to spend $1,000 on the top model. This skate will have all the comfort features you'd expect, like the moisture-wicking capability and high-quality foam. These skates don't have the quick-release mechanism, which is usually right under the heel. The blades are durable, but after lots of sharpening, you will need to replace the blade over time. The 9040 is a great option for kids and youth skaters who will outgrow the skate before replacing the blade. It's a good stepping stone.

### Progression:

While the 70K established the core design philosophy for agile skating, the 80K offered minor refinements, and the 100K Pro introduced significant upgrades in boot construction, flex points, holder design, and fit system options.

Key upgrades from the [70K](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/ribcor-70k/l1309) and [80K](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/ribcor-80k/l12074):

Key upgrades from the [80K](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/ribcor-80k/l12074) and [100K Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/ribcor-100k-pro/l168685):

* One piece boot design, helping with transferring energy through your leg, skate and ice.
* Updated Fit System with three different fit profiles (tapered, regular, and wide) for a wider range of foot shapes compared to the three-width option system in earlier models.
* Choice between various blade options like the Power CCM XS or Step Steel Black for customization based on player preference.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* Amazing skates for agility! These skates are incredible for forwards who value quick turns and sharp cuts. The one-piece boot flex makes a huge difference in how much you can push into your strides. They are also very comfortable, even after long practices. Highly recommend!
* These skates are super light and feel very responsive on the ice. The BlackSteel blades are sharp and give you a great bite. My skating has gotten a lot more dynamic since I switched to these.
* I was surprised at how affordable these skates were compared to other high-end models. They don't skimp on quality at all. The fit is great and the liner keeps my feet dry.

CONS:

* The break-in period for these skates was a bit longer than I expected. My ankles were pretty sore for the first few weeks.
* These skates run a bit narrow. If you have wide feet, you might want to try a different model.
* Lacing system could be better. The laces that come with the skates are kind of flimsy. I had to replace them with a higher quality pair.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald)](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79)

The Ribcor 100K is a top-of-the-line pro model skate. You'll get the most comfort and super lightweight durability with this skate. The 100K is really known for its agility. Tacks AS-570

# CCM Tacks AS-570 Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

The CCM Tacks AS-570 hockey skates are designed for powerful strides and a close fit, making them ideal for competitive players of all ages. They bring the technology of CCM's high-end Tacks skates to a more affordable price point. The skates feature a one-piece boot for better energy transfer and a closer fit, along with a 150 stiffness flex rating for powerful pushes. The replaceable asymmetrical tongue and XS steel runners allow for customization to individual preferences. Continuing the legacy of the Tacks line, the AS-570 skates aim to provide power and performance for today's hockey players.

### Perfect skates for:

A player looking for a balance between some of the high-end tech but at a lower cost.

### Key features include:

* Direct energy transfer with the one Piece Boot quarter package
* HD Microfiber liner
* Interchangeable, custom fitting tongue
* Molded CCM Ortholite footbed with recycled EVA foam
* CCM XS Stainless Steel runner

### Top competitors comparison: the [Bauer Supreme M5 Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/supreme-m5-pro-2/l177540) and the [True TF7](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf7/l164202)

All three skates target mid-range players seeking a balance of affordability and performance. The Bauer Supreme M5 Pro leans towards a stiffer flex profile for powerful strides, similar to the AS-570. However, the True TF7 stands out for its focus on a lightweight construction and a more customizable fit through heat-moldable materials. Ultimately, the best choice depends on whether the player prioritizes a stiffer skate for maximum power (CCM and Bauer) or a lighter weight skate with a more personalized fit (True).

### Progression:

CCM typically prioritizes introducing major advancements in their top-of-the-line models like the JetSpeed or RibCor lines. Updates to mid-range skates like the AS-570 are more subtle and not explicitly advertised. The AS-570 offers some significant upgrades over the entry-level models including a one-piece quarter package boot, interchangeable tongues, and the speedblade XS Holder improving the spring-lock system that makes swapping out blades more efficient.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* The one-piece boot provides a good amount of stiffness for powerful strides, which is unusual to find at this price range. They're not top-of-the-line, but they're a great option for players looking for an upgrade from recreational skates.
* The liner is decent quality and wicks away moisture well. These skates are also fairly lightweight, which makes for easier strides and better maneuverability on the ice.
* The AS-570 is a great fit for someone who has flat feet. One of my friends suggested adding a pair of superfeet skates to them and they felt great!

CONS

* More advanced players might find the boot to be a little too soft for their needs. These skates don’t offer the same level of stiffness and performance as some top-of-the-line models.
* The one-piece boot does require a break-in period, and I found it to be a bit uncomfortable at first. There are some serious initial pressure points and blisters happening on my feet.
* Baked these skates and am currently on my 4th time getting these punched. There is no room on the inner side of these skates for the bones in an average persons foot near the ankle.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The AS-570 is in a good state. You have the ankle-locking memory foam and it offers a lot of power and comfort. This skate might not be as durable as other comparable models. It doesn't have the same high-end materials as the 5 Pro, but the AS-570 has a really good anatomical fit. It's a great skate if you don't really need the pro-level durability because you might only be skating on the weekends, but you still want something decent.

### Top competitors comparison: the [Bauer Supreme 3S Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/supreme-3s-pro/l65212) and the [True TF9](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf9/l163956)

The CCM Tacks skates are known for their advanced features and performance-driven design, offering excellent support and mobility on the ice. The Bauer Supreme 3S Pro skates focus on power and precision, with an asymmetrical quarter package design for improved ankle stability. The True TF9 skates prioritize a personalized fit and enhanced comfort, with True Hockey's custom-fit system based on individual foot measurements. Overall, players should consider their playing style, preferences, and fit when choosing between these high-quality options.

### Progression:

While there isn't a clearly defined predecessor with a single model name leading directly to the CCM AS-V Pro Hockey Skates (released in 2022), there's evidence suggesting it succeeds skates within the Tacks line focused on power and explosiveness. Updates include:

* The AS-V Pro’s one-piece Power boot, an upgrade from the AS3 Pro model, is engineered for explosiveness.
* New Powerflex tendon guard with carbon, designed to improve your range of motion
* With the AS-V Pro, buyers can now choose which runner they’d like: CCM’s Step Blacksteel, Step V-Steel, or Step Steel

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* The one-piece boot and carbon construction are super stiff and really transfer energy into your strides. My slapshot has gotten noticeably harder since I switched to these skates. Plus, the Powerflex tendon allows for a full range of motion for powerful strides.
* By far the most comfortable skate/boot I've ever put my feet into...like warm melted butter.
* For a high-performance stiff boot, these skates are surprisingly lightweight and maneuverable. The Step Steel blades are sharp and give you excellent edge control. They helped me improve my agility on the ice.

CONS:

* These skates are definitely at the top end of the price range. They're a great skate, but you're paying for the premium features and performance.
* These are very stiff skates designed for powerful strides. They require a lot of leg strength to use effectively.
* The stock laces that come with the skates are just okay. I replaced them with a higher quality waxed lace for a better fit and feel. This seems like a minor detail on a high-end skate.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The AS-V Pro offers a close, professional fit, and a lot of power. I really love the quick acceleration. The number one thing with this skate is comfort. The padding really secures the ankle and foot while keeping the flexibilityity to turn and move. The tongue has a funky design, but it allows you to get a full range of motion without feeling insecure in the skate or like it's going to fall off or wobble.

[JetSpeed 250](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-250/l11591):

* Entry-level or recreational skate that features the same quality and construction as the higher end models.
* Synthetic embossed shell that supports a durable outer shell.
* Heavy duty microfiber liner
* Low profile injected outsole provides a interface to maximize energy transfer.
* CCM footbed
* Non-replaceable stainless steel runner that provides a longer lasting edge

[JetSpeed FT 340](https://sidelineswap.com/search?q=jetspeed%20ft%20340):

* Entry-level or recreational skate
* Quarter package that's been injected with mesh form skin for a durable outer shell
* A Brushed micro-fiber liner provides comfort and a resistance to wear and tear.
* A 5mm Felt tongue provides comfort and protection.
* Injected outsole helps with energy transfer with every stride.
* CCM Footbed
* Speedblade Pro holder and runner, which is non-replaceable stainless steel that increases the player's attack angle.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are incredible! Super lightweight and feels responsive, which is exactly what I was looking for in a skate for quick cuts and accelerations. My strides feel really explosive.
* The fit on these skates is spot on. I went with the medium width and it feels like an extension of my foot. The SpeedBlade XS steel gives me some of the best edge control I've ever had.
* Big difference from my old skates. The ankle support in the JetSpeeds is top-notch. I feel really locked in and stable on my edges.

CONS:

* Less durable than expected for the price. The lining around the ankle already shows some signs of wear after just a couple of months of use.

* I found the break-in period for these skates to be a bit longer than usual. It took a good few weeks before they started to feel comfortable.
* These skates felt a bit too stiff for me, especially in the forefoot area. It restricted my toe flexion a bit and made it harder to get a good push-off. Maybe better suited for a more powerful skater than myself.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

This skate is intended for people who skate about once a week and are not super competitive. It'll hold up. If you skate ten times a week with these skates, they will only last you a little while, maybe a month or two. However, the main thing is that there is no quick or easy release for the metal runners or the blades. Many players look for skates with a metal release, which will let them swap out their blades. The more you sharpen them, the thinner they get. And in this case, you'd have to replace the whole bottom, the holder. It's more intensive than just clicking a button and adding new blades. But really, a solid skate for those who don’t skate every day.

Super Tacks AS1

### Product Description

Super Tacks AS1 skates are made for professional and elite level players, and are at the top of the CCM Tacks line. The one-piece heat moldable boot is constructed with a layered Premier Carbon Composite and MonoFrame 360 One-Piece Technology that improves durability and transfers power more efficiently for stronger strides. The boot is slightly taller for increased ankle support and the re-designed toe cap adds comfortable protection. The interior TotalDri Pro Dual-Zone Liner keeps feet dry and skates light while DuraZone Abrasion Resistance Pads provide grip, securing the foot and providing protection against abrasions. CCM OrthoMove Custom Support Insoles allow a personalized fit and increased energy transfer while a re-designed TriTech Flex tongue with injected foam offers mobile protection. The SpeedBlade 4.0 Holder has a triangular design for optimum balance and energy transfer while SB Black Runners have an oxide coating that helps the steel stay sharper longer without corroding.

### Expert Notes

These jets are among the most stylish looking skates on the market right now, and are recommended for elite level players. The black runner steel is a crowd favorite, because it holds an edge longer than standard steel tends to. You can clearly see when there are nicks in the blade, so it won’t be hard for you to figure out when they need to be replaced. These blades are also incredibly lightweight, and you’ll notice this right away when you pick them up. As you would expect with a top-of-the-line boot, they’re very stiff. AS1 skates also don’t have an outsole, so this combined with the stiffness allows for unreal foot control.

### Progression:

CCM's JetSpeed hockey skates have had various models and updates over the years, offering speed, performance, and fit improvements. Here are some notable models and updates:

[**JetSpeed FT1**](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft1/l1305): Introduced as the first skate in the JetSpeed line, the FT1 featured a RocketFrame composite boot, SpeedCore 3 technology, and TotalDri Pro liner.

[**JetSpeed FT2**](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft2-2/l11100): The FT2 skate introduced L1TE Frame 360 EVO technology, reducing the weight of the boot by 20 grams and improving rigidity. It also featured a wraparound tongue for enhanced fit and comfort.

[**JetSpeed FT4 Pro**](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft4-pro-2/l165798): This model showcased the Hyperglide runner, which had a lighter blade design. The skate also boasted an asymmetrical toe cap for improved customization and fit.

[**JetSpeed FT6 Pro**](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/ccm/jetspeed-ft6-pro-5/l330947): The FT6 Pro is part of the 2023 skate lineup, featuring top-of-the-line performance and technology including the new SuperSkin insert which protects the exterior better than ever before.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are top-of-the-line. The composite boot provides incredible stiffness and responsiveness. My strides feel powerful, and the edges hold like nobody's business.
* The TotalFit Pro+ liner with the asymmetrical tongue offers a fantastic, locked-in fit. The liner feels supportive and comfortable from the start, and the heat-molding capabilities allowed me to get a truly custom fit around my ankles and heels.
* Despite the stiffness for power transfer, the JetSpeed FT4 feels surprisingly lightweight. The fit allows for good mobility in the ankle, and the boot design helps with quick turns and overall agility.

CONS:

* These skates are expensive. While the performance is good, the price tag is only realistic for serious players or those with a professional budget. There are very good skates available at lower price points.
* Unfortunately after using these for less than a season, a puck from a shot hit the interior of the skate and created a huge crack in the "one piece boot". I was shocked at how easily these skates split open.
* These skates needed a longer break-in period than I expected, especially compared to other JetSpeed models I’ve tried. It took them a few weeks of use before the skates felt truly comfortable.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

Many people compare the FT4 Pro to the HyperLite, but the FT4 has much more power. It's an incredibly powerful skate, and the fit is perfect. I would do my stride in the FT4 Pro and realized pretty quickly that I needed to watch out! I'm not used to the power. You see a lot of NHL players still using the FT4 Pro. I'll see a player going really fast and think wow, look at that. Oh yeah, they are wearing the JetSpeed FT4 Pro.

JetSpeed Control

### Product Description

Maintaining the Jetspeed style but with significant upgrades, CCM Jetspeed Control skates offer enhanced performance with exclusive style and comfort. The heat moldable tight-heel fit increases comfort and durability, while the boot widens towards the toe to provide more wiggle room (particularly for players with wider than average feet). The skate is lined with SpeedCore2 foam, which molds to the foot. The liner also features TotalDri technology to help wick away moisture. The Tri-Tech felt tongue and Smooth Contour Comfort Pro Pads allow for maximum protection without excessive weight. Lastly, the SpeedBlade skate steel is perfectly balanced for superior edge control in composite JetSpeed390 holders, designed for enhanced stiffness and better power transfer.

### Expert Notes

These wheels have a sweet look, and are comparable to the higher end Jetspeed FT1 skates from CCM. With an all black contoured boot, complemented by low-key red and white flare along the sides and back of the tendon guard. In terms of performance, they are comfortable and are quite form-fitting. The soft tongue and narrower heel pocket helps to keep the foot steady, without any noticeable pressure points. All in all: these skates offer a lot of comfort and a sharp look at a mid-range price.

These skates fit into CCM's long history of hockey innovation. The company has been around for over 100 years and has been a major player in the hockey equipment market since the beginning. The Super Tacks line is known for its focus on performance and speed, and the AS3 Pro is the top-of-the-line offering in the Tacks lineup.

### Top competitors comparison: the [CCM Super Tacks AS3 Pro](https://sidelineswap.com/search?q=CCM%20Super%20Tacks%20AS3%20Pro) and the [True TF9](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf9/l163956)

The CCM Super Tacks AS3 Pro skates are highly regarded for their premium quality materials and performance. On the other hand, the True TF9 skates offer a customizable fit tailored to individual foot measurements, providing a more personalized experience for players. Both alternatives present strong competition to the CCM AS3 Pro skates, offering unique features and benefits that cater to different player preferences and needs.

### Progression:

CCM introduces minor improvements to existing skate lines throughout their production cycle without necessarily introducing a new numbered model. However, there are CCM Super Tacks skates that came before the AS3 Pro, which offer some insight into the general progression:

**CCM Super Tacks AS1 (2017-2020)**: This skate was known for its stiff flex profile and focus on powerful strides. It featured a one-piece SpeedBlade black CCM XS blade and a Speedblade XS holder.

**CCM Super Tacks AS-V (2019-2021):** This model offered a slightly more forgiving flex compared to the AS1 while maintaining a focus on powerful skating. It retained the one-piece SpeedBlade black CCM XS blade and Speedblade XS holder.

Key features introduced in the AS3 Pro compared to its predecessors:

* **One-piece boot construction:** This aims to provide a closer fit and potentially improve energy transfer compared to the two-piece construction in the AS1 and AS-V.
* **XS Tongue system**: This allows for customization of tongue thickness for individual preferences and comfort levels, which wasn't present in the AS1 and AS-V.
* **SpeedBlade XS holder with Power profile:** This might offer better edge control and power transfer compared to the standard XS holder used in the AS1 and AS-V.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are awesome. I feel tons of power in my strides, and the edge control is incredible. My skating feels effortless. A great choice for advanced players.
* I purchased these after skating in Bauer Supremes for the last four years. They are head and shoulders above the Supremes in terms of comfort and feel on the ice. The one-piece boot is phenomenal.
* Despite the stiffness for power transfer, the AS3 Pro feels surprisingly lightweight. This allows for quick starts, good agility, and overall responsiveness on the ice.

CONS:

* These skates are definitely on the expensive side. While the performance is undeniable, the price tag might not be realistic for everyone.
* These skates are quite stiff out of the box and possibly too stiff for some skaters.
* These skates need a longer break-in period than expected. It took them a few weeks of use before they felt truly comfortable.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The AS3 Pro is a carbon composite one-piece boot. It's a higher-level skate with a premium liner for moisture wicking, an interchangeable, custom-fitting tongue, and an improved blade lock system that secures the blade to the holder. Swapping out blades is super easy. The AS3 will have a more anatomical, snug fit. It has good heel locking, giving you reall good acceleration and power.

JetSpeed 250

# CCM JetSpeed 250 Hockey Skates

### Product Description:

The CCM JetSpeed 250 hockey skate caters to recreational and entry-level players seeking a balance of affordability and quality. Part of CCM's Jetspeed line, it inherits the brand's commitment to performance. This skate boasts a comfortable, supportive shell and a durable liner for extended use. The non-replaceable stainless steel blade offers a long-lasting edge, reducing the frequency of sharpening. While lacking the high-end features of its JetSpeed brethren, the 250 remains a solid choice for beginners looking for a comfortable and reliable skate to perfect their game, upholding the brand's legacy of providing equipment for players of all levels.

### Perfect skates for:

Recreational and entry-level players

### Key features include:

* Synthetic embossed quarter shell to enhance durability.
* Heavy-duty microfiber liner for long-lasting comfort.
* Low-profile injected outsole design ensures improved performance.
* Supported and comfortable footbed.
* A non-replaceable stainless steel runner for lasting durability.

### Top competitors comparison: the [Vapor X2.9](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/bauer/vapor-x2-9/l60200) and the [True TF7](https://sidelineswap.com/shop/hockey/skates/true/tf7/l164202)

The Bauer Vapor X2.9 skates offer a similar level of performance as the JetSpeed 250 skates, with a focus on quickness and agility. They feature a lightweight construction and a composite boot design for improved support and stability. The Vapor X2.9 skates also utilize the Tuuk Lightspeed Edge holder system for quick blade changes. In comparison, the True TF7 skates provide a customizable fit with a heat moldable technology, allowing for a personalized fit that caters to the unique shape of the player's foot. They feature a composite shell for durability and stiffness, and the True Shift Holder for adjustable blade heights.

### Progression:

CCM’s signature skate release for 2015 was the all-new CCM Jetspeed. It’s a top-to-bottom redesign that replaces the now-discontinued RBZ.

The RBZ skates were much wider and had a lot of negative space. They also had a problem with heel lock, which caused skaters to slip out of their heels. This led to skaters overtightening their skates, damaging the quarter packages and eyelets on the lacing. CCM seriously considered these issues when designing the new and improved, full composite JetSpeed ice skates. The upgrades to the Jetspeed line include:

* 40 grams lighter than their RBZ predecessor
* Contoured RocketFrame™ full composite boot.
* Double-stitched tendon guard to improve their durability.
* A JetProtect tongue. The first layer of the tongue contains thick felt, then a layer of EPP (Expanded Polypropylene) foam, and finally, a layer of HD (High Density) foam. The outer portion of the tongue features a protective ridge for the laces to rest upon, a "heavy weapon" in the battle against lace-bite.
* Custom support insoles which come in high-arch, mid-arch, and low-arch options.

### What people are saying (edited for clarity and brevity)

PROS:

* These skates are a fantastic option for beginner to intermediate players. They offer a good balance of comfort, performance, and affordability. The boot is supportive enough for learning proper technique, and the steel provides decent edge control.
* The boot feels nice and lightweight. It allows for quick turns and good responsiveness, which is exactly what I was looking for. My skating feels more dynamic.
* The heat-moldable liner is a great feature for getting a more personalized fit. I was able to get rid of some pressure points around my ankles, which makes a big difference in comfort for longer skates.

CONS:

* These skates felt a bit too soft for me. I couldn't get the same level of energy transfer as with a stiffer boot. If you're a more advanced player who needs maximum power transfer, you might want to consider a higher-end model.
* I've seen some mixed reviews about the durability of these skates. While they seem fine for now, I'm a little worried about how they'll hold up with long-term use.
* The break-in period for these skates wasn't the most pleasant. They felt a bit stiff at first, but they did loosen up after a few skates.

### Expert notes (by [Austin MacDonald](https://sidelineswap.com/locker/dstars79))

The JetSpeed 250 is at the lower end of the JetSpeed line and focuses on speed and explosiveness. It's built for people just starting out or who only skate once a week. It'll give you a good feel of the JetSpeed line. The 250 doesn't have the quick-release holder, so you'd have to replace the bottom, but in most cases, for a recreational skater or someone just learning, it’s a great skate.

JetSpeed FT1

### Product Description

JetSpeed FT1 skates utilize the latest CCM technologies for a light, balanced skate that’s built for speed. The new RocketFrame boot design with LiteFrame 360 Technology is a one-pice construction that fits around and under the foot to eliminate the need for an outsole. Heat moldable, the boot eliminates empty space and provides direct energy transfer. The TotalDri Pro liner is a lightweight wicking material with vents for dryness and breathability along with durability patches for grip and comfort. The Tri-Tech Tongue is high density felt for protection without limiting mobility, and the SpeedBlade 4.0 holder angles forward for more aggressive turning and cuts. The high quality SpeedBlade Hyperglide steel runner has a hard tempered finish that reduces friction and drag for efficient gliding and increased energy performance.

### Expert Notes

Aesthetically, this skate is a fan favorite among hockey players who aren’t ashamed to say they care about the look of their gear. JetSpeed FT1 skates are praised for their black contoured boot with subtle red accents. This look is clean and sharp, and is very similar to Bauer’s 1X LE skate. In addition, the soft white tongue is extremely comfortable and adds some flashiness for those players who like to let their tongues fly while they’re skating. As far as performance goes, JetSpeed FT1 skates are super quick on the ice as a result of CCM’s one-piece technology, which produces an unbelievable level of responsiveness with each stride.
