Perfect irons for:
Players looking for a sleek, tour-inspired design without compromising on power or forgiveness.

Key features include:

Forged Hollow BodyAchieved through a multi-material construction that uses a forged 4140 steel face for feel and high-strength steel for the body for forgiveness.
AI-Optimized WeightingUniquely designed using AI to optimize weight distribution for distance, forgiveness, and accuracy.
Flight TrajectoryPositions the center of gravity low in the long irons for higher launch and progressively higher throughout the set for more control in the scoring irons.
SpeedFoam AirA lightweight urethane insert that fills the inside of the iron head. It absorbs impact vibrations for a better feel while also saving weight to allow for a larger sweet spot.

Callaway Apex Irons are designed to deliver the look, feel, and performance of a forged player club with the forgiveness of a deep cavity back design. Golfers like the T200 irons for their clean looks, good feel, and forgiveness on off-center hits.

Progression of the P790 Irons

The TaylorMade P790 is one of the most successful irons in golf history. First launched in 2017, these irons paired distance and forgiveness in a new way. Over the last seven years, TaylorMade has continued to refine these clubs and release updated sets. The fifth iteration was released in 2024 and features a unique internal structure for each iron in the set, along with an all-new internal sound stabilization bar combined with SpeedFoam Air to deliver an elevated forged iron feel.

👍 Pros
Best Irons I've played in my life. Off-center hits still make it 90% of the way to the target and don't drift offline.
Flush contact feels like you would expect a forged iron to feel like, but even heel and toe strikes don't ring up through your forearms.
I find the new P790 to be a great iron. It feels very crisp and allows me to produce consistent flight and yardage.
👎 Cons
Due to the club's construction, you will occasionally get a flyer as if you are hitting out of light rough.
Although the irons are overall fine, the quality control is lacking.
Anything they come in contact with, scratches them, even the face. Make sure you purchase head covers.
The P790 iron set is aimed at more skilled golfers with a budget for quality clubs. They're not as forgiving, so you'll need to be an accurate ball striker. The P790s allow players to draw to the right and hit cut shots from left to right. And these clubs are workable around the greens as well. You can spin it and not have to aim towards the center of the green. For golfers who like to aim for the pin, spin it, and land in one spot.
