Top Competitors

The Callaway Mavrik Irons offers a good balance of distance, forgiveness, and feel. Key features include a hollow body construction for increased ball speed and Jailbreak Technology for more power on off-center hits. The Ping G425 Irons offers a great balance of forgiveness and distance, with a sleeker profile than the M4. The G425 has a pleasing look, great all-around performance, and ample forgiveness.

Progression of the M4 Irons

Since its inception, TaylorMade Golf has been innovating its M Series irons. Here is a brief overview of model upgrades up until the M4:

M1

This iron set heavily emphasizes workability through its clubhead design. With a lower CG for increased forgiveness and more ability to shape shots, the M1 has efficient navigation through the turf.

M2

The M2 irons utilize the then-new Thick-Thin Fluted Hosel to lower the center of gravity, allowing for optimal ball flight and increased distance. Similar to the M1, the M2 features a compact clubhead.

M3

The M3 utilizes RIBCOR and Max-COR technologies. This tech adds distance through increased ball speed. RIBCOR tightens dispersion off the clubface, and Max-COR promotes consistent shots off the clubface, even on the heel and toe.

M4

The M4 has slightly more advanced technology that increases distance, accuracy, and forgiveness. These clubs feature a new weighting position aimed at increasing forgiveness, in addition to the tight dispersion the RIBCOR technology is known to offer.

👍 Pros
I love this set and absolutely recommend it to anybody who's just getting started. They are forgiving, hit far, and sound good.
I’ve now played a dozen rounds with the M4s. The feel, forgiveness, and distance are simply amazing. Best irons I’ve ever played.
Really comfortable fit and have changed my game completely. Lowered three strokes right away.
👎 Cons
The quality has gone downhill. My 5-iron head broke off and flew into the water.
Bought these recently and the 6 irons snapped at the grip. Very disappointing.
The PW head just snapped off. The ball landed on the green and my club headed into the pond. I think they are cheap metal clubs that have never seen rain.
The M4 Irons excel in forgiveness and distance, with a noticeable improvement in durability over earlier M models. These irons are incredibly user-friendly, offering a level of control that is easy to manage. While they may not provide the same level of control as some players' irons, the M4s will help you hit the ball straighter and with more distance. They are easy to control, making them a great choice for those not yet comfortable with shot shaping.
