Callaway Apex Irons are designed to deliver the look, feel, and performance of a forged player club with the forgiveness of a deep cavity back design. Progression of the P770 irons

TaylorMade’s P series added the P770 iron set in 2020 for the first time. In 2023, a newer version of the P770 was released with the following upgrades:

  • The SpeedFoam Air is 69% less dense than the previous SpeedFoam material which helps to save weight and distribute it across the club face.
  • The CG is positioned lower in long irons and progressively ascends higher through the set to the shorter irons.
  • The tungsten weighting scheme in the long and middle irons has been redesigned, moving more weight to the longer irons' low tungsten mass and a reduction in the middle irons' tungsten.
  • Added speed via the thinnest face TaylorMade has ever produced. The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket and Inverted Cone Technology also help increase ball speeds.
👍 Pros
Great looking, great performing club. An overall upgrade from the previous generation.
Love these irons. Dialed in perfectly, easy to shape, and great distance. Keeps getting better.
Extremely pleased with these irons, more forgiving than expected, excellent ball flight.
👎 Cons
Not worth the money. I hit these irons as far as I did my old clubs. There is no difference.
I took these to the range and absolutely hated them. The feel when flushed is almost non-existent, and they are nowhere near as forgiving as I thought they would be.
I hit them very short, and it’s hard to find the sweet spot. The ball flight was far too high with lower irons.
The P770s cater to skilled golfers. They feature a blade iron, which helps accurate shot shape. They're high spin, so if you need to get around a corner or spin the ball on the green, the P770s would be a good set if you're skilled enough to do that. If you're not, miss hits will happen. The P770s have a sleek, compact look that appeals to better players. The topline is relatively thin, with minimal offset, presenting a clean look at address.
